  • Patent number: 7194316
Abstract: A handheld head treatment device and method for reducing hair loss and stimulating hair growth by supplying current and laser light to a user's head. The device includes a current generator disposed within a housing configured to output a current for passage into the user's head and a laser source and guide means disposed within the housing configured to output and direct respective portions of the laser beam outward from the hair treatment device toward the user's head when the hair treatment device is in use. The method comprises the step of directing a series of different current and laser treatments to a portion of the scalp wherein the programmed current treatments are sequentially administered and include a continuous and pulsed direct current treatment.

  • Publication number: 20060237418
Abstract: A hair curling iron for curling hairs is disclosed which includes a handle for housing a motor and a first member having a first end rotatably coupled to the handle and selectively driven into rotation by the motor. The first member has a second end spaced from the first end in a direction of elongation. The hair curling iron further includes a heating element disposed within the first member and extending partially in the direction of elongation between the first end and the second end and a clamp mounted for rotation with the first member, the clamp having a closed position suitable for retaining the hairs and an open position suitable for receiving and withdrawing the hairs.

  • Patent number: 7069935
Abstract: A hair braider includes a body having a handle and a head portion. A selectively rotatable drive source is disposed within the body. First and second overlapping, rotatable rotors are disposed within the head portion and are operatively coupled to the drive source through a plurality of gears such that the first and second rotors rotate in opposite directions when the drive source is actuated. The hair braider includes a plurality of hair retaining members that are received within openings formed through the first and second rotatable rotors. Each hair retaining member has a bore formed within it for receiving a bundle of hair. A mechanism transfers one hair retaining member from one rotor to the other rotor as the rotors rotate. The rotation of the rotors and the successive transfer of one hair retaining member from one rotor to the other rotor results in a braid being formed.

  • Publication number: 20050039769
Abstract: A hair braider is provided and is configured to perform a three-bundle plait or braid and includes a body having a handle and a head portion at one end of the handle; a selectively actuatable drive source disposed within the body; and first and second rotatable rotors that are disposed within the head portion and are accessible through openings formed in the head portion. The first and second rotatable rotors are operatively coupled to the drive source through a plurality of gears such that the first and second rotors rotate in opposite directions when the drive source is actuated. The hair braider further includes a plurality of hair retaining members that are received within openings formed through the first and second rotatable rotors, wherein each hair retaining member has a bore formed therethrough for receiving one bundle of hair.

  • Publication number: 20050015030
Abstract: An apparatus for applying massage, accupressure and biomagnetic therapy to a subject is provided and the apparatus includes a housing having a proximal end and a distal end; a motor disposed within the housing and having a shaft; and a magnet disposed within the housing about the shaft. The apparatus further includes a rotor rotatably supported by the shaft at the distal end of the housing. The rotor has an exterior face which is remote from the magnet and which defines a plurality of entrances, an opposing interior face proximate to the magnet, and a seat more proximate to the magnet than the interior face which is in communication with each of the entrances. Each seat is affixed relative to the rotor at one or more locations proximal to the exterior face. A plurality of metal balls are provided and which are seatable against the seat and retained within the entrances of the rotor by a magnetic field emanating from the magnet. Each ball has a center and is universally rotatable about its center.
