Patent number: 11059598Abstract: A vertical take-off and loading (VTOL) rotary aircraft or helicopter has eight propellers in a quad propeller arm configuration where each propeller arm has two counter-rotating propellers. Folding propeller arms are designed to allow storage in a single car sized garage. Each propeller may be powered by a three-phase alternating current motor. The main power plant for the aircraft is a gas combustion engine that generates electricity. If the gas engine fails, a battery backup system will safely bring the aircraft down for a controlled landing. The direct current bus is redundant in that even with a gas combustion engine failure the direct current bus battery pack will safely bring down the aircraft. Various embodiments of this invention may also include a landing gear crumple zone designed to soften a hard landing.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2018Date of Patent: July 13, 2021Assignee: Moog Inc.Inventors: Alan J. Arkus, Stephen S. Burns, Patrick Conners, Wei Wei

Patent number: 9047417Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and computer platforms and architectures employing node aware network interfaces are disclosed. The methods and apparatus may be implemented on computer platforms such as those employing a Non-uniform Memory Access (NUMA) architecture including a plurality of nodes, each node comprising a plurality of components including a processor having at least one level of memory cache and being operatively coupled to system memory and operatively coupled to a NUMA aware Network Interface Controller (NIC). Under one method, a packet is received from a network at a first NIC comprising a component of a first node, and a determination is made that packet data for the packet is to be forwarded to a second node including a second NIC. The packet data is then forwarded from the first NIC to the second NIC via a NIC-to-NIC interconnect link. Upon being received at the second NIC, processing of the packet (data) is handled as if the packet was received from the network at the second NIC.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2012Date of Patent: June 2, 2015Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Patrick Conner, Chris Pavlas, Elizabeth M. Kappler, Matthew A. Jared, Duke C. Hong, Scott P. Dubal

Patent number: 9004430Abstract: An articulating mount for a television or other device with a display screen, permits in/out translation, left/right translation, and left/right roll or tilting movement of the display of the television or device. The left/right roll or tilting movement is about a generally horizontal axis that remains substantially perpendicular to the display screen of the device that is mounted to the bracket. The articulating mount further provides added retention and support of the television or device when a bracket of the mount is fully retracted, such as when the mount is used in a vehicle that is underway.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2012Date of Patent: April 14, 2015Assignee: Imperial Stamping CorporationInventor: Patrick A. Patent number: 8146205Abstract: A hinge assembly incorporates an anti-tamper member that is selectively positionable to protect fasteners holding the hinge assembly to a mounting surface such as an access door. The hinge assembly may be incorporated into a bar lock assembly to provide additional tamper resistance for a shipping container, for example, to limit or prevent unauthorized access to the container.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2009Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: Imperial Stamping CorporationInventors: Patrick A. Conner, Robert I. Chidister

Publication number: 20090249096Abstract: A method and apparatus for data transmission at energy efficient rates. An embodiment of an apparatus includes a port for the transfer of data. The port has an active state in which the port may transmit or receive data and an inactive state in which the port does not transmit or receive data. The apparatus further includes logic to control the transfer of data. The logic places the port into the active state for a first time period for the transfer of data and places the port into the inactive state for a second time period. The logic further prevents transfer of data during the inactive state.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2009Publication date: October 1, 2009Inventors: PATRICK CONNER, Yadong Li, William Campbell, Indumathi Madhavan, Miles Penner

Patent number: 5908263Abstract: A void-forming preform for installing a light fixture in a pavement, such as a poured concrete slab, or other structure comprises an upper chamber for receiving the light fixture, a ledge for supporting the light fixture, and a lower chamber for holding a length of wiring entering the lower chamber through a port. In a further embodiment, adjustable standoffs are formed in the bottom of the preform. The standoffs may be bent down to provide support for the preform on a pavement base prior to forming the pavement, and allow easy and fine adjustment of the height of the preform in relation to the final grade of the pavement.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1997Date of Patent: June 1, 1999Assignee: Concrete Paving Innovations LLCInventors: Thomas Patrick Conners, Eric Petrilla
