  • Patent number: 11628641
Abstract: A can crusher (1900), including: a support plate (1912) and a backing plate (1902); a left crush-arm (1908) pivotally secured to the support plate and including: a left flap (1924) and a left handle (1920) that extends transverse relative to the left flap; a right crush-arm (1910) pivotally secured to the support plate and including a right flap (1934) and a right handle (1930) that extends transverse relative to the right flap; and a retaining pin (1914) directly secured to the support plate. When the support plate is horizontally oriented the retaining pin extends vertically upward from the support plate and is disposed outside a horizontal sweep of the left flap and outside a horizontal sweep of the right flap. The retaining pin is configured to trap a can between the retaining pin and the backing plate when the can crusher is in an open configuration.

  • Patent number: 11504929
Abstract: A can crusher (102), having: a backing plate (120); a left crush-arm (126) pivotally secured to the backing plate and having a left handle (130) and a left crush surface (128) that faces the backing plate when the can crusher is in a closed configuration (190); a right crush-arm (140) pivotally secured to the backing plate and having a right handle (144) and a right crush surface (142) that faces the backing plate when in the closed configuration; and a support plate (150). In a vertical orientation (152) the backing plate is oriented vertically; the support plate is disposed below horizontal sweeps (154, 156) of the crush surfaces; and the support plate supports a can in between the crush surfaces when the can crusher is in an open configuration (104).

  • Publication number: 20150025809
Abstract: A method, including: determining steady state values for daily caloric parameters that conform a person to weight management goal, the daily caloric parameters including a daily base metabolic rate (BMR) and a target offset from a daily total daily energy expenditure (TDEE), wherein the TDEE includes the BMR; determining an intake shortfall for a plurality of days between actual daily offsets and the steady state target offset; making a recommendation including food to be consumed to reduce the shortfall, the recommendation effective to account for a transient change in a hunger response resulting from the consumption of the recommended food; causing consumption on an up adjustment day; and determining transient values for at least one of the daily caloric parameters to be used subsequent to the consumption on the up-adjustment day effective to bring an average of the actual daily offsets closer to the steady state target offset.

  • Publication number: 20140072935
Abstract: A method, including: selecting at least one favored food item; determining a target caloric intake for a period, determining an amount of calories desired for a caloric up-adjustment, wherein the up-adjustment reduces any caloric intake shortfall from the target caloric intake for the period; and making at least one food recommendation including a number of servings of one favored food item or any combination of more than one favored food item. A total caloric impact of the recommendation includes a caloric content of the recommended food plus an allotment for an expected transient increase in caloric intake necessary to reach a same level of satiety during a subsequent transient increase in appetite. The food recommendation is selected to be a food recommendation including a total caloric impact that best matches the desired up-adjustment calories.

  • Publication number: 20140072936
Abstract: A method, including: tracking a quantity of an item consumed and when the consumption occurs; tracking if an effect was felt and a magnitude of the effect felt; selecting an item of interest; displaying in graphical form the quantity of the item of interest consumed and when the consumption of the item of interest occurred; displaying in graphical form when the effect was felt and the magnitude of the effect felt; and determining if a relationship can be drawn between the display of the quantity of the item of interest consumed and when the consumption of the item of interest occurred and the display of the magnitude of the effect felt and when the effect was felt.
