  • Patent number: 8952328
Abstract: The invention relates to a charged particle detector system comprising a conversion plate (110) to convert incoming radiation to secondary electrons. These secondary electrons are then detected by a secondary electron detector (120), thereby providing information of the incoming radiation. Often this information is limited to, in first approximation, the flux of incoming radiation. In the case of, for example, backscattered electrons this is the current of the incoming backscattered electrons. The invention proposes to form the conversion plate as, for example, an energy dependent detector, for example a photodiode to detect electrons, so that the detector system simultaneously provides information of, for example, current (S1) and mean energy (S2) of the incoming radiation. The detector system is especially suited for use in a SEM or a DualBeam apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20150007037
Abstract: In some embodiments, a non-transitory processor-readable medium stores code representing instructions for execution by a computer processor. The instructions cause the processor to produce a list of subjects by identifying a plurality of subjects based on information associated with an analyst-selected topic. The list of subjects is expanded to include subjects that have a relationship with at least one subject from the first list of subjects. Subjects are removed from the list based on either a filter or a scoring threshold. The expanding and removing subjects is iterated until the list of subjects is substantially stable to produce a final list of subjects. A graphical network is defined based on the final list of subjects and a signal is sent representing the graphical network (e.g., to a computer monitor for display).

  • Publication number: 20140379054
Abstract: A device and method for applying light to the cornea of the eye as, for example, to promote crosslinking of collagen in the cornea for vision correction. The device may include a structure having form and size similar to a conventional contact lens. The structure may include an optically dispersive element such as a mass of an optically dispersive material that may be contained in a cavity of a reflective element. Light applied to the dispersive mass as, for example, by an optical fiber connected to the structure is dispersed in the structure and passes into the cornea. The patient may blink or close the eye during the procedure, which increases patient comfort and aids in maintaining hydration of the cornea.
