    Abstract: A male luer medical connector includes a needle having a distal portion with a hole opening and contained in the cavity of a resilient seal. The needle has, apart from its distal portion, an additional hole. The seal and needle are shaped so that when the connector is connected, the compressed seal forms with the needle, immediately upstream of the upper level of the additional hole, a sealed cavity for receiving by way of passage in the additional hole a part of the fluid contained in the needle; and when the seal is released the cavity contains fluid when the lateral hole opening into the needle is sealed, and the portions of the seal, downstream and upstream of the cavity respectively, as well as the additional hole, are shaped so the downstream portion closes a lateral hole while the same cavity continues to discharge the fluid into the needle.

    Abstract: A perfusion pump system for providing perfusate to an organ of a human body includes an actuator coupled to a pump to provide an actuating force to the pump. The pump includes an outlet for providing a perfusate to an organ coupled to the pump and an inlet for receiving the perfusate. The pump is configured to provide a pulsatile pumping force to the perfusate via a pumping stroke in response to the actuating force. The pumping stroke is followed by a return stroke. The pumping stroke causes the pump to collapse to force a flow of the perfusate through the outlet to the organ. The pump collapses in the direction of the flow of the perfusate. The return stroke allows the perfusate to enter the pump through the inlet and the return stroke of ways providing the perfusate through the outlet.

The terminal end has a cross section suitable for receiving, by friction, a luer type male connector. The needle a terminal part including an orifice or orifices, which is encased in a cavity of an elastic seal having, in the thickness of its free end, a slit or equivalent. The elastic seal has a free end at a tangent to that of the chamber and is provided with a ring encircling its terminal part at least as far as the zone opposite the orifice or orifices of the needle. Along part of the length of the terminal end of the chamber, the outer surface of the elastic seal and/or the inner surface or thickness of the ring has at least one recess for promoting the expulsion of the material constituting the seal, at the time of passage of the needle.
