  • Patent number: 9499088
Abstract: A vehicle tie-down cleat assembly can include (i) a tie-down cleat defining an upper portion and a lower portion, wherein the upper portion defines at least one aperture or member configured to receive a tying member, and wherein the tie-down cleat comprises a plastic housing and a metal insert disposed within the plastic housing, and (ii) a base assembly coupled to the lower portion of the tie-down cleat and configured to be removably coupled to a surface of a storage compartment of the vehicle, the base assembly comprising a base member, a hinge coupled to the lower portion of the tie-down cleat and the base member, the hinge being configured to allow the tie-down cleat to rotate with respect to the base assembly, and a locking system configured to lock/unlock the tie-down cleat assembly to a mounting plate mounted to a surface of a vehicle storage compartment.

  • Patent number: 8544581
Abstract: A system may include first and second louvers and a drive system. The first louver may be movable between first and second positions. The second louver may also be movable between first and second positions. At least one of the first and second louvers may be positioned proximate an opening in a vehicle, such as a grille, to control airflow therethrough. The drive system may drive at least one of the first and second louvers between the first and second positions. The drive system may include a first member connected to the at least one of the first and second louvers, and a rotatable member having a first arcuate guide. The first arcuate guide may slidably engage the first member. The rotatable member may rotate to cause movement of the at least one of the first and second louvers.

  • Publication number: 20100102580
Abstract: A vehicle includes a beam and fascia over the beam, and an energy absorber mounted between the beam and fascia. The energy absorber is thermoplastic and has energy-absorbing wall geometries that are forwardly facing and configured to absorb energy from a low speed impact against a pedestrian. The wall geometries having multiple wall sections defining multiple draft angles and lengths adapted to buckle at transitions of the multiple draft angles during the low speed impact, with the numbers and types of draft angles and transitions of these draft angles being varied to provide a selected amount of resistance force needed to absorb an optimal amount of energy over time during the impact. The energy absorber is tuned for optimal minimized injury to an impacted object.
