  • Patent number: 9027266
Abstract: A wear component for use on, for instance, an excavator formed by a shell formed from a tough metal such as carbon steel and an inner body formed from an abrasion resistant metal such as a chromium white iron. The shell includes cross portions extending through the inner body, the cross portions being made of the tough metal. This has the effect of strengthening the overall toughness of the wear component, while retaining desirable abrasion resistance.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 28, 2011
Date of Patent: May 12, 2015
Assignee: Excalibur Steel Company Pty Ltd

  • Patent number: 8438760
Abstract: An attachment system for connecting a first member such as a lip plate of a mechanical digging device to a second member such as a ground engaging tool. The first member has a lug attached thereto, and the second member has a recess which is located about the lug A stabilizing member is located within a slot in the recess. A clamping member is between the lug and the stabilizing member, and includes a resilient portion such as a compression spring. A compressive force supplied to the resilient portion restricts the movement of the second member relative to the lug.

  • Publication number: 20110259541
Abstract: A method of forming a wear resistant component is disclosed. The method includes the metallurgical bonding of an abrasion resistant alloy to a substrate within a furnace. A gas flow restricting means is used to restrict the flow of gaseous oxygen into the region of the metallurgical bond, allowing a furnace to be used without vacuum extraction.

  • Patent number: 7472503
Abstract: An attachment system for connecting a first member such as a lip plate (12) of a mechanical digging device to a second member such as a ground engaging tool (10). The first member has a lug (22) attached thereto, and the second member has a recess (50) which is located about the lug (22). A stabilizing member (98) is located within a slot (57) in the recess. A clamping member (60) is between the lug and the stabilizing member, and includes a resilient portion (90) such as a compression spring. A compressive force supplied to the resilient portion restricts the movement of the second member relative to the lug.

  • Patent number: 7219454
Abstract: An attachment system for connecting a first member such as a lip plate (12) of a mechanical digging device to a second member such as a ground engaging tool (10). The first member has a lug portion (22) attached thereto the second member has a recess (50) arranged, in use, about the lug portion. A clamping member (60) is disposed between the lug portion (22) and the second member (10) such that the supply of pressure to the clamping member (60) acts to restrain disengagement of the second member (10) from the lug portion (22).

  • Publication number: 20040060435
Abstract: A hydraulic fastening device, for securement of two components, for example, securement of teeth to a bucket on earthmoving or mining equipment. Each component (29) and (51) has an orifice (50) and (52) therein adapted to be substantially aligned. A body member (26) is inserted in the aligned orifices (50) and (52). A control means (34) is then operated to move at least one protrusion (40) and (41) to protrude from the body (26) and to fasten the components (29) and (51). This achieved by hydraulic operation and connection of a fluid conduit (32) between the control means 34, e.g. a grease nipple, and the protrusions (40) and (41).
