  • Patent number: 5996937
Abstract: A variable turbofan bypass cowling includes a movable cowling assembly (12) with pivoting door type thrust reversers (20) connected to a fixed upstream cowling structure (11). The movable assembly may be translated between an upstream position whereat an upstream portion of the reverser and cowling assembly (12) is housed inside an enclosure formed by the upstream cowling structure (11) and a downstream position whereat the assembly (12) effects a variation in the exhaust duct (17) cross-section between an inner primary turbojet-engine cowling (15) and a radially inner wall of the assembly (12). The reverser doors (20) in their closed position are integrated into the cowling wall and contain at least part of the exhaust flow. When pivoted to thrust reversed positions following translation of the assembly (12) to a downstream rearward position, thrust reversal is provided in the usual manner.

  • Patent number: 5997054
Abstract: A device for closing and locking the shutters of an aircraft thrust reverser includes a lock having a latch which is motorized so as to complete the closure of a shutter utilizing energy supplied by the motor, thereby relieving the jack which is the prime mover of the shutter. The device includes a stop which opposes the latch and interacts with a counter-stop so as to immobilize the shutter in the closed position and thus reduce vibration and flapping of the shutter.

  • Patent number: 5960626
Abstract: An electric control system is disclosed for a turbojet engine thrust reverser having at least one movable component movable between a forward thrust position and a reverse thrust position, the control system having at least one electromechanical drive device mechanically connected to the moveable component such that actuation of the electromechanical drive device moves the component between the forward and reverse thrust positions, and an electronic control unit electrically connected to the electromechanical drive device and to a turbojet engine control system to transmit actuation signals to the electromechanical drive device to control the movement of the component between the forward and reverse thrust positions. The electronic control system preferably also has at least one electrically actuated locking device to hold the movable component in the forward thrust position.

  • Patent number: 5765362
Abstract: The present invention relates to a thrust reverser for a turbojet engine having at least one thrust reverser door pivotally attached to a cowling so as to pivot about a first pivot axis between a forward thrust position, wherein the thrust reverser door closes a thrust reverse opening in the cowling, and a reverse thrust position in which the thrust reverse opening is opened. The thrust reverser door moves from the forward thrust position to the reverse thrust position about its pivot axis in a first pivot direction. The invention also includes a thrust reverser panel pivotally attached to the cowling so as to pivot about a second pivot axis between a forward thrust position and a reverse thrust position. In pivoting from the forward thrust position to the reverse thrust position, the thrust reverser panel pivots in a second direction about its axis, the pivoting direction of the thrust reverser panel being opposite to the pivoting direction of the thrust reverser door.
