Patent number: 5819670Abstract: A multiple level or tier foldable bench type seating assembly which is mounted to a wall or bulkhead and which may be folded to a compact position against the wall. A support is secured to the wall. An upper seat support is pivotally attached to the wall support at a bracket. The opposite end is pivotally attached to a rear leg. A lower seat support has a front folding leg and has a roller which travels in a track on the rear leg between the folded and unfolded position. An anti-tampering detent lock prevents the inadvertent or unauthorized folding of the seating.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1997Date of Patent: October 13, 1998Inventors: Patrick H. O'Connor, Michael M. Peterson

Patent number: 5819401Abstract: A method of constructing a printed circuit board module and the module which comprises providing a substrate core having a first aperture extending therethrough and a pair of printed circuit boards, each board having at least one electrically conductive layer, secured to the substrate core and having a second aperture therethrough aligned with the first aperture. An electrically conductive member having an electrically insulating member is disposed around the electrically conductive member. The electrically conductive member having an electrically insulating member disposed therearound is positioned so that the electrically insulating member is disposed in the first aperture and the electrically conductive member extends into the second aperture of each of the printed circuit boards. The printed circuit boards are secured to the substrate core to lock the electrically insulating member in the first aperture.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1997Date of Patent: October 13, 1998Assignee: Texas Instruments IncorporatedInventors: William R. Johannes, Patrick H. O'Neill, David M. Mendez

Patent number: 5685593Abstract: A molded combination storage unit and truck bed liner. A cover which is mounted on rollers and is rearwardly slidable. Storage compartments are defined below the cover. Panels or partitions may be inserted at spaced-apart locations to form subcompartments between the cover and the floor. The panels reinforce the cover to permit heavier loads to be carried on the cover. In alternate embodiments, the cover may be hinged and slidable drawers may be inserted into the storage compartments.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1994Date of Patent: November 11, 1997Inventor: Patrick H. O'Connor

Patent number: 5655459Abstract: A foldable bench type seating assembly is disclosed which may be retracted to a stored out-of-the-way position. A seat support is securable to a wall at a bracket. The seat support is pivotally attached to a leg. When the seating is folded, the seat support moves to a position with the seat cushion outwardly disposed and with the leg also closely adjacent the wall. The seating assembly may be provided with single or multiple level seating.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1995Date of Patent: August 12, 1997Inventors: Patrick H. O'Connor, Mike M. Peterson

Patent number: 5577583Abstract: A clutch providing lost motion between a motor operated mechanism for operating a vehicle door lock and a manually operated mechanism for operating the vehicle door lock. The clutch includes a cam member rotatable about an axis between a first "locking" position and a second "unlocking" position and an output member rotatable about the axis between a third "locking" position and a fourth "unlock" position. The output member may be connected to a member selectively moveable to rotate the output member about the axis between the lock and unlock positons. The output member is adapted to actuate the vehicle door lock. The output member may be coupled to actuate the vehicle door lock through an output lever. The output member may be releasably fixed to the output lever.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1995Date of Patent: November 26, 1996Assignee: Kelsey-Hayes CompanyInventor: Patrick H. O'Donnell

Patent number: 4323439Abstract: Novel method and apparatus for separating, purifying and/or concentrating ions in a mixture of different molecular species using a method of electrophoresis in the presence of a counterflowing carrier fluid are provided. By selecting the appropriate carrier fluid flow rate, magnitude of the current and varying separation characteristics in a separation chamber, one or more similarly charged species of ions can be segregated into separate or discrete equilibrium zones within the chamber.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 1979Date of Patent: April 6, 1982Assignee: The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventor: Patrick H. O'Farrell

Patent number: 4290855Abstract: Method and apparatus for separation of isotopes is provided which utilizes a novel combination of electrophoresis, a flowing carrier fluid and a separation chamber with varying separation characteristics. By selecting the appropriate voltage, flow rate and separation characteristics, a given ion species is made to form an equilibrium zone within the separation chamber. In a preferred embodiment, .sup.235 U ions are continuously separated from .sup.238 U ions.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 1979Date of Patent: September 22, 1981Assignee: The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventor: Patrick H. O'Farrell

Patent number: 4018099Abstract: A transmission shift lever assembly having a manually operated shift lever, pivotally mounted by a sliding saddle block connection on a shift shaft for transverse selecting movement between first, second and third neutral positions and rotating the shift shaft to these neutral positions and pivotally mounted for limited selecting movement in a pivot bracket pivotally mounted for shifting movement on the housing for fore and aft shifting movement conjointly with the pivot bracket from any neutral position in either direction to a drive position without turning movement.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1975Date of Patent: April 19, 1977Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Patrick H. O'Brien, William J. Zabritski

Patent number: 3998109Abstract: A transmission shift lever pivotally mounted at one end and having at the other end a handle with a detent release button connected to push a detent release rod axially extending through a tubular lever portion to release a U-shaped detent member which is mounted on the lever and biased to engage detent notches on the internal diameter of a detent plate located about the pivot. The handle has a rigid core with a bore to reciprocally receive the release button and an elastic cover. The button has a cam and stop engaging a cam and stop on the cover to expand the cover to insert and retain the button biased to release position. In one form the button directly axially pushes on the release rod and in another form the button moves transversely and has a cam rotating a pivoted lever which supports the release spring and pushes the release rod.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1975Date of Patent: December 21, 1976Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventor: Patrick H. O'Brien

Patent number: 3998110Abstract: A transmission shift linkage having a manual shift lever pivoted in a housing for selecting movement between neutral positions and shifting movement to four forward speed positions and a reverse drive position with a manually releasable reverse inhibitor to prevent selecting movement from the neutral position for first and second speed drive position to the neutral position for reverse drive position to inhibit shifts to reverse drive position. The inhibitor has a stop member mounted on the manual shift lever for movement in the selecting movement direction between inhibiting and detent positions and is spring biased to inhibiting position.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1975Date of Patent: December 21, 1976Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Patrick H.
