  • Publication number: 20190351774
Abstract: A power transfer system includes a positioning-device, a base-coil, and one or more controller-circuits. The positioning-device determines a position of a vehicle moving within a power-transfer-zone. The base-coil is disposed within the power-transfer-zone and emits a magnetic-field in response to electrical power applied to the base-coil. The one or more controller-circuits are in communication with the positioning-device and the base-coil. The positioning-device determines whether any portion of the vehicle overlays the base-coil. The one or more controller-circuits immediately control the electrical power applied to the base-coil such that the base-coil emits the magnetic-field characterized as having value of greater than 27 microteslas, when any portion of the vehicle overlays the base-coil.

  • Publication number: 20190214856
Abstract: An electrical charging includes an alternating current power supply, a source coil configured to generate an alternating magnetic field, a capture coil magnetically coupled to the source coil, thereby inducing the capture coil to capture electrical power from the alternating magnetic field, a plurality of magnetic sensors disposed at distinct locations relative to the source coil, each magnetic sensor configured to determine a sensor strength value of the alternating magnetic field, object detection circuitry configured to detect an object at an object location relative to the source coil, and controller circuitry controller circuitry configured to determine an object strength value of the alternating magnetic field at the object location based on sensor strength value from the magnetic sensors and to interrupt electrical power from the power supply when the object detection circuitry detects the object at the object location when the object strength value exceeds a threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20190157897
Abstract: An electrical charging system configured to wirelessly charge an energy storage device having a power supply configured to source electrical power having a frequency, a source coil in electrically coupled with the power supply and configured to generate an alternating magnetic field, a capture coil magnetically coupled to the source coil, thereby inducing the capture coil to capture electrical power from the alternating magnetic field, a variable resistor switchably coupled to the capture coil configured to provide a variable resistive load to the capture coil, and controller circuitry communicatively coupled with the power supply and configured to command the variable resistor to vary a resistance of the variable resistor and configured to command the power supply to vary the frequency of the electrical power and a method of operating same.
