Patent number: 8771114Abstract: A baseball capable of being tested under ASTM F1887-09 wherein the baseball is projected at a strike plate at a speed of approximately 60 mph to measure the COR of the baseball. The baseball includes a core formed of a diene-based rubber composition, at least one layer of yarn surrounding the core, and a cover assembly surrounding the one layer of yarn. The core has a diameter of less than 2.0 inches and a weight less than 1.5 ounces. The baseball has a circumference of less than 9.5 inches and a weight of less than 5.5 ounces. The baseball has an initial COR value when tested in accordance with ASTM F1887-09 and a second COR value measured after the baseball has undergone at least 60 impacts of approximately 60 mph against the strike plate. The second COR value is greater than 95 percent of the initial COR value.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2011Date of Patent: July 8, 2014Assignee: Wilson Sporting Goods Co.Inventors: Michael Markovich, Patrick J. Patent number: 8015621Abstract: A protective shoulder pad assembly for use in contact sports. The shoulder pad assembly includes a flexible vest, a pair of rigid shoulder pads attached to the vest, and a pair of straps extending from a back side of the vest. The straps can each be refastenably attached to a front side of the vest. In particular, the straps can be crossed over one another in an “X” configuration on the front side of the vest, thereby directly securing each strap to both a front right portion and a front left portion of the vest.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2008Date of Patent: September 13, 2011Assignee: Wilson Sporting Goods Co.Inventor: Patrick J. Patent number: 5280754Abstract: A system for detecting objects in the path of a power operated, movable door operating in a mass transit vehicle, which would obstruct door closing. The system also includes an integral method for detection of a "free wheeling" door occasioned by failure of the door mechanical drive. Method and apparatus disclosed utilize door handle locating devices such as electrical switches located at predetermined points along the door closure track. A combination of door locations along the closure track centrally define positions signaling either door linkage failure with attendant "free wheeling" door, and/or door obstruction, in each case, the system disclosed prevents train motion until the improper door condition is remedied. The combination provides a reduction in passenger hazards occasioned by train movement with defective operator linkage and/or door obstruction due to trapped passengers or other impediments to door closure.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1992Date of Patent: January 25, 1994Assignee: Mark IV Transportation Products Corp. Patent number: 5158001Abstract: A power table tool having an outlet port positioned relative to the cutting member of the tool so that the dust and other debris generated by the cutting member can be removed from the interior of the tool assembly through an exhaust system. A guard member is provided for the outlet port to prevent insertion of extraneous matter into the interior of the tool as well as to protect the outlet from clogging as a result of the removal of the sawdust and other debris from the interior. The guard member is structured in a manner such that the area of the openings presented in the guard member is greater than about 100% of the area of the outlet port itself. The port is specifically aligned relative to the cutting member in order to enhance the removal of the sawdust and debris from the interior of the tool.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1991Date of Patent: October 27, 1992Assignee: Skil CorporationInventors: Patrick J.
