The apparatus also includes a sealing ring provided by one of the protective cap or the connector, the sealing ring forming a seal between the cap and the connector, the seal capable of holding pressure. The apparatus further includes a stabilization rib provided by the connector, the stabilization rib positioned and arranged to (i) tend to prevent the protective cap from vibrating about the sealing ring and (ii) enable a sterilizing gas to flow past the stabilization rib to contact the sealing ring.

    Abstract: A medical connector comprising a body having a first end, a second end and a body wall defining an interior. A removable cap is fixed to the first end to seal the first end, the cap having a first filter. A filter plug having a proximal end, a distal end, a second filter and defining a spike path on an interior of the filter plug fluidly seals to an inside surface of the body wall. The distal end of the filter plug also has a removable membrane that blocks the spike path. The medical connector also provides a steam path with at least a portion of which is provided between the body wall and the filter plug. The medical connector can also comprise a first port and second port connected together to define the connector interior. The medical connector can provide the first filter on the connector body.
