  • Patent number: 9242388
Abstract: A cutting apparatus for columnar items such as metal pipes has a base frame that supports a movable cutting blade. At least one blade actuator is disposed between the blade and the frame to drive the blade back and forth between retracted and extended positions. First and second arms are pivotably connected to the frame and moveable between disengaged and engaged positions. An arm actuator is associated with each arm and drives each arm between the disengaged and engaged positions. A segmented collar engages the entire circumference of the columnar item being cut. The blade is supported by the frame and the arms during the cutting process while the collar supports the material of the columnar item adjacent the cut.

  • Publication number: 20130186246
Abstract: A shearing apparatus has a movable shearing blade that is moved between retracted and extended positions with a piston cylinder assembly that supplies shearing force to the blade such that the movable shearing blade may be driven through a variety of items such as metal pipes and solid items such as channels or struts. The movable shearing blade can cooperate with a fixed shearing blade disposed on the opposite side of the item being sheared as the movable shearing blade. The movable shearing blade also can cooperate with a support block without the fixed shearing blade. First and second clamp assemblies are provided on different sides of the movable shearing blade.

  • Patent number: 7506562
Abstract: A ratchet assembly includes a threaded rod and a support collar that defines a bore. A portion of the threaded rod is disposed in the axial bore of the support collar. A ratchet pawl is pivotable carried by the support collar between locked and unlocked positions. The ratchet pawl has at least one tooth that threadably engages the threaded rod when the ratchet pawl is in the locked position to allow the threaded rod to threadably rotate with respect to the support collar for fine position adjustments. The ratchet pawl automatically pivots to the unlocked position when the threaded rod is forced in a direction from the first end toward the second end to allow for gross position adjustments.

  • Patent number: 6857378
Abstract: A table has an adjustable support wherein the ratchet mechanism that locks the position of the tray with respect to the base may be moved to the unlocked position with the user's leg while the tray of the table is held by the user's hands. The table may also have a locking detent that extends entirely across the width of the support leg attached to the tray of the table to provide a strong, secure, and stable support when the table is used with heavy objects.
