  • Publication number: 20230343529
Abstract: A novel electric power interrupter is provided, the interrupter comprising concentric springs and interlocking hooks for opening and closing the interrupter. The electric power interrupter further comprises a housing over a vacuum chamber and an electrically insulating layer around the vacuum chamber, a fixed section and a moving section. The butt contact of the fixed section is stationary, while the butt contact of the movable section moves towards and away from the fixed section. A toggle mechanism is provided for operating the movable section to open or close the interrupter. The present invention provides a better voltage dissipation and reduces the risk of electrical arcs forming outside the interrupter.

  • Publication number: 20220165522
Abstract: The present invention concerns a gas insulated circuit breaker system. The system comprises a base station, an insulating column, a transition elbow and an interrupting chamber. With the placement of motion transferring mechanisms in the base station and the transition elbow, the system allows the opening and closing of the integrated circuit breaker within the interrupting chamber in a compact and efficient configuration from a link to an external control module in the base station.

  • Patent number: 9071110
Abstract: There is provided a system and method for detecting an abnormal operation of a motor controlling an operating parameter of a machine. Both a torque of the motor and the operating parameter are monitored. A memory stores a plurality of predetermined torque values indicative of a normal operation of the motor. A plurality of operating parameter values are also stored in the memory with each operating parameter value having a corresponding predetermined torque value associated therewith. The predetermined torque value corresponding to the monitored operating parameter is retrieved from the memory and compared to the monitored torque value to detect an abnormal operation of the motor.

  • Patent number: 9041402
Abstract: There is provided a method for determining an abnormality during operation of a high voltage disconnect switch, the method comprising: determining a current position of an arm of the high voltage disconnect switch operatively connected to a motor, the motor being operated for driving the arm of the high voltage disconnect switch; determining a torque of the motor corresponding to the current position of the arm; comparing the torque of the motor to a torque threshold for the current position of the arm; and outputting an abnormality signal based on the comparison.

  • Patent number: 8664959
Abstract: There is provided a method for measuring abnormality detection parameters of a disconnect switch, comprising: releasably connecting a first sensor to the disconnect switch, the first sensor adapted to measure a first parameter related to a position of an arm of the disconnect switch, the disconnect switch comprising a rotating actuation element operatively connected to the arm for moving the arm between a closed position and an open position; releasably connecting a second sensor to the rotating actuation element, the second sensor adapted to measure a second parameter related to a torque of the rotating actuation element; moving the arm using the actuation element; measuring and storing in memory the first and second parameters while the arm is moving; and disconnecting the first and second sensors.

  • Patent number: 7999416
Abstract: There is provided a method for operating a control module of a high voltage switch, the method comprising: interfacing with an external environment via an input/output unit that filters each electrical signal passing therethrough; analyzing incoming signals and triggering actions as a function of the incoming signals via a logical unit; powering the control module via an internal power unit that is supplied by an external power supply; and isolating the logical unit from the power unit and the input/output unit by having all signals coming from these units and directed to the logical unit pass through an isolation unit.
