    Abstract: Systems and method embodying the invention receive an item of telemetry data from an unknown entity and attempt to determine an entity name and entity type for the unknown entity based on the information included in the data item. Also, an entity ID may be generated for the unknown entity. The data item may then be tagged with the entity ID, entity name and entity type before the data item is passed to a recording and storage unit. Also, information about the newly identified entity may be sent to an entity tracking system.
