  • Publication number: 20070255243
Abstract: An absorbent composite has a low capacity region and a high capacity region in planar relationship to the low capacity region, where the high capacity region comprises between 1% and 10% by weight elastomeric polymer fibers and between 60% and 98% by weight superabsorbent material with respect to that region, and where the low capacity region comprises at least 10% by weight elastomeric polymer fibers and less than 10% by weight superabsorbent material. In some embodiments, the absorbent composite can further comprise additional regions. The regions are substantially joined by intermingling of the elastomeric polymer fibers between the regions, to form a generally unitary, stratified absorbent composite. The absorbent composite can be utilized in an absorbent article, the result of which is an absorbent article that exhibits improved performance as well as greater comfort and confidence among the user.

  • Publication number: 20070049892
Abstract: An absorbent article includes an outercover, a bodyside liner, and an absorbent assembly positioned between the outercover and the bodyside liner. The absorbent assembly includes an absorbent core at least partially enveloped by at least one nonwoven core wrap. The absorbent assembly has a rear extension region length of at least 30 mm. The absorbent core may include at least 60 percent superabsorbent and the bodyside liner may include apertures.

  • Publication number: 20070044903
Abstract: A method for making absorbent articles includes forming discrete absorbent cores on a first nonwoven core wrap web; providing a second nonwoven core wrap web in facing relation with the first nonwoven core wrap web to create a composite web wherein the discrete absorbent cores are located between the first and the second nonwoven core wrap webs; at least partially bonding the composite web between the discrete absorbent cores; cutting the composite web between the discrete absorbent cores to form absorbent assemblies which include a first nonwoven core wrap web, a second nonwoven core wrap web and an absorbent core positioned between the first and second nonwoven core wrap webs, the absorbent assemblies include a rear extension region length of at least 30 mm; and joining the absorbent assemblies between a bodyside liner and an outercover to form absorbent articles.

  • Publication number: 20060089616
Abstract: The present invention relates to improvements in bonding patterns for the attachment of components of disposable absorbent articles. For example, in order to provide attachment of an ear portion to a longitudinal side of the chassis of an article, there may be an attachment area. The attachment area may include an overlapping area of chassis material(s) (outer cover and/or liner materials) and ear portion material. The overlapping areas of chassis material and ear portion material are bonded together in such a way as to include a variegated bond pattern and a uniform bond pattern. The bonding patterns of the invention may also be used to form the side seams and passive side bonds for articles that are donned as pants.

  • Publication number: 20060004339
Abstract: Absorbent articles with carefully controlled stretch properties are disclosed. In particular, the absorbent articles have a waistband that encompasses a pair of opposing side panels and a waist region of the article. The side panels are attached to longitudinal edges of a chassis and are configured to extend around a person's waist. The side panels are attached to fastening devices for fastening the absorbent article to a wearer. In accordance with the present invention, the side panels and the waist region are both elastic. In order to improve fit and comfort, the stretch properties of the side panels are matched with the stretch properties of the waist region. For example, elongation of the side panels can be matched to elongation of the waist region or, alternatively, displacement of the side panels can be matched to the displacement of the waist region for a given range of forces.
