  • Publication number: 20260226909
Abstract: A compressor system includes an electrical discharge machined (EDM) bearing configured to support a load of a rotating shaft. The EDM bearing includes a housing extending around a rotational axis. The EDM bearing includes an EDM flexing pivot pad machined from the housing, where the EDM flexing pivot pad is configured to provide support to the rotating shaft rotating around the rotational axis. The EDM flexing pivot pad includes a lubricant channel aligned with the lubricant opening and a lubricant nozzle removably coupled to the lubricant channel and disposed proximate to the EDM flexing pivot pad. The lubricant nozzle is configured to deliver a lubricant flow from the lubricant port directly to the rotating shaft.

The EDM bearing includes an EDM flexing pivot pad machined from the housing, where the EDM flexing pivot pad is configured to provide support to the rotating shaft rotating around the rotational axis. The EDM flexing pivot pad includes a lubricant channel aligned with the lubricant opening and a leading-edge groove (LEG) machined on an inner circumference of the EDM flexing pivot pad. The LEG is in fluid communication with the lubricant channel and is configured to deliver lubricant to the rotating shaft.

  • Patent number: 12018715
Abstract: A hydrodynamic bearing in the form of a flex pad bearing includes configurations structured to change a bearing characteristic. One form of the bearing includes a nonlinear back wall that includes a circular arc and a transition, where the back wall extends radially outward of a ligament. The bearing can include an opening for the deposit of a weighted mass, wherein the opening can threadingly receive a threaded weighted mass. In one form a sidewall that includes the back wall segment can have an average outer radius which determines a thickness of the flex pads.

Date of Patent: June 25, 2024
    Assignee: Ingersoll-Rand Industrial U.S., Inc.
