  • Patent number: 8857431
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a breathing mask for aircraft crewmember. The breathing mask includes an on-demand regulator with an inlet connected to a source of breathing gas and an outlet to exhaust the breathing gas. The outlet has an aperture controlled by a movable valve having an open position when the crewmember breathes out and a closed position when the crewmember breathes in. The breathing mask also has a latch member operable by a crewmember to latch the valve in the open position, the latch member including an unlocking member to release the valve when the cabin pressure is below a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 7584753
Abstract: A demand and dilution mask regulator comprising an oxygen feed circuit and a dilution circuit for supplying air. The oxygen feed circuit and the dilution circuit are connected to a mixing chamber (35). In the dilution circuit, the inhaled breathe-in air flow rate is measured through a capillary duct (43) connected to a Venturi construction (41). A method of regulating the flow rate of additional oxygen uses flow rate data measured through the capillary duct (43) for controlling the oxygen flow rate to be supplied to the mixing chamber (35).

  • Patent number: 7549420
Abstract: The invention concerns a protective headgear comprising a respirator (2) capable of being connected to a breathing mixture source, an eye protecting shield (5) and first (32) and second (56) lock elements, respectively located on the respirator (2) and on the shield (6) and adapted to co-operate with each other to secure the shield (6) to the respirator (2), when the respirator is in its use position on the user's face, the first (32) and second (56) lock elements being adapted to be mutually engaged and interlocked by a movement bringing the shield (6) closer to the respirator (2), from above.

  • Patent number: 6039045
Abstract: The head harness includes at least one expandable strap whose ends are connected to the mask for constituting a loop. The strap includes an element which is inflatable by pressurized gas for lengthening the strap up to a size sufficient for the user to locate the harness over his head. Pressurized gas is supplied to the element for increasing its size upon actuating of a manually controlled valve. Upon release of the valve, the strap contacts the head and maintains the mask. A selection valve authorizes venting of the inflatable element when in an "emergency" position and maintains a residual pressure in the inflatable element when in a "comfort" position. The harness or a storage box for the mask are designed for preventing storing of the mask in "comfort" position.

  • Patent number: 5771886
Abstract: A respiratory protection apparatus has a breathing mask with a regulator and a fast donning harness having at least a pair of extensible strap whose ends are connected to the mask. Each strap has an element which is inflatable by the pressurized breathable gas for extending the strap until it has a sufficient size for enabling the user to quickly don the harness over the head and deflatable to permit the strap to tighten, to urge the mask against the face and to maintain the mask on the face. An ear piece is connected to the harness or mask and is applied against the ear when the harness straps are deflated.
