  • Patent number: 7858681
Abstract: A product comprises or is produced from a substrate and optionally a thermal insulation wherein the substrate comprises or is produced from polyvinyl chloride and a liquid plasticizer; the substrate, the insulation material, or both is coated, laminated, coextruded, or applied with a barrier layer comprising an ionomer; and the substrate is in close proximity to the insulation material. Also disclosed is a process that can be used to prevent liquid plasticizer from migrating out of polyvinyl chloride product wherein the product is optionally in close proximity to a thermal insulation; the process comprises coating, laminating, coextruding, or applying a barrier layer disclosed above onto the surface, or a portion thereof, of the product or onto the insulation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 21, 2007
Date of Patent: December 28, 2010
Assignee: E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: Kevin Patrick McAllister, Elizabeth R. Griffin
  • Publication number: 20090142530
Abstract: A composition comprises an ethylene copolymer having copolymerized units of ethylene and vinyl acetate, alkyl acrylates, alkyl methacrylates, acrylic acid and ionomers thereof, methacrylic acid and ionomers and a potassium-containing component comprising a potassium-neutralized ionomer and optionally an organic acid or salt thereof and/or a polyol. Also disclosed is an article comprising or produced from the composition, which includes films, sheets and shaped articles.

  • Patent number: 6668190
Abstract: A drug delivery system includes a plurality of sites, a fluid channel for delivering a drug to one of the plurality sites, and a light channel for delivering light to an area near one of the plurality of sites. The fluid channel is a micro fluidic channel and the light channel is a wave guide. The light channel may also be a fiber optic cable. The light channel directs light at the fluid channel wherein light from the light channel does not substantially exit to the major surface. The drug delivery system selectively delivers drugs to various types of neurologic cells. In operation a solution of a photoactivatable neuro-active drug is delivered to a preselected area in vivo and photoactivated in the solution at the preselected area to stimulate neurological tissue. The neuro-active drug could be an antagonist or agonist of neuronal activity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 14, 2001
Date of Patent: December 23, 2003
