  • Publication number: 20030167894
Abstract: A band saw for sawing metal comprises a movable working assembly (1) comprising a band saw (18) and a drive for the band. The movable working assembly (1) comprises at least two power-driven wheels (16, 17) about which the band saw is trained, located on opposite sides of a passage for the metal to be sawed. This increases the drive surface applied to the band saw (18) while maintaining it under tension.

  • Patent number: 5062335
Abstract: A band-saw for sawing metal parts such as bars has a work unit which is capable of displacement in the vertical direction above the workpiece support table. The work unit has two distinct lateral portions located on each side of two vertical guide sleeves and serving as supports for a vertical driving wheel and a vertical guide wheel of the saw-blades, the work run of which is placed horizontally above the location of the workpiece. Two vertical columns forming part of the moving unit are slidably mounted within the two vertical sleeves, the lower ends of which are fixed on the horizontal table. The ends of the vertical columns are rigidly fixed to two horizontal cross-members which are located respectively at the top and at the bottom and which connect together the two lateral portions of the moving work unit so as to form a closed frame.

  • Patent number: 4913014
Abstract: A band-sawing machine is provided opposite to the intended workpiece location with a movable work unit comprising the saw-band and its drive mechanism. The rate of travel of said movable work unit is reduced by a hydraulic circuit provided with a device for regulating the rate of flow. In addition, the hydraulic circuit includes a valve which is capable of limiting or even of interrupting the flow of fluid. The operation of the valve is controlled by a means responsive to an increase in the resistance set up in opposition to the driving tension of the saw-band. The arrangement is such that an increase in said resistance produces a limitation of the flow rate within the hydraulic braking circuit and consequently a reduction in the rate of travel of the movable work unit.
