  • Publication number: 20230336178
Abstract: A device applies a pre-function w=P(x) to an input signal x to obtain a first result w and applies a LUT to the first result w, wherein the LUT represents a main function ƒw(w) defined for a second grid of values Gw such that the pre-function P(x) is piecewise defined on a first grid Gx of signal values, where Gw=P(Gx). The device can further obtain the pre-function P(x), piecewise defined on the first grid Gx of the signal x and calculate the LUT with the second grid Gw=P(Gx). The piecewise pre-function P(x) can be obtained from a second pre-function Q(x) by applying Q(x) to signal values x to calculate the second grid Gw=Q(Gx) and defining the pre-function P(x) piecewise on the first grid Gx by linear interpolation of the values of the second grid Gw such that P(Gx)=Q(Gx).

  • Patent number: 10999607
Abstract: The present principles are directed to a parameterized OETF/EOTF for processing images and video. The present principles provide a method for encoding a picture, comprising: applying a parameterized transfer function to a luminance (L) signal of the picture to determine a resulting V(L) transformed signal; encoding the resulting V(L); wherein the parameterized transfer function is adjusted based on a plurality of parameters to model one of a plurality of transfer functions. The present principles also provide for a method for decoding a digital picture, the method comprising: receiving the digital picture; applying a parameterized transfer function to the digital picture to determine a luminance (L) signal of the digital picture, the parameterized transfer function being based on a plurality of parameters; wherein the parameterized transfer function is adjusted based on a plurality of parameters to model one of a plurality of transfer functions.

  • Publication number: 20190385506
Abstract: A method for color processing in view of displaying a video image on a display device is described. The method includes retrieving a spectral power distribution associated with at least one group of light elements of the display device, the group of light elements displaying a color component of the video image to be displayed; computing, in a range of the spectral power distribution, called range of noxiousness, a noxiousness value representative of the noxiousness of the light emitted by the group of light elements of the display device; and comparing the noxiousness value to a bound value of noxiousness. If the noxiousness value is greater than the bound value, the content of the image is modified or the display control parameters of the display device are modified such that the noxiousness value becomes less than the bound value.

  • Patent number: 10284750
Abstract: Said method comprises a first cusp-oriented lightness-mapping step and a second lightness-mapping step in which a source color (N) is mapped into a mapped color (N?) having the same hue (H?=H) and the same chroma (C?=C) as the source color, where the second mapping step is defined such as to bring more colors in a target color gamut and more colors closer to the boundary of this target gamut.

  • Publication number: 20170359491
Abstract: According to this method, the mapping color LUT has input colors that sample not only a source color gamut (included in an input encoding color space in which inputs colors of this LUT are encoded) but also a portion of the input encoding color space which is not included in the source color gamut. Preferably, this color LUT further includes output colors located outside the target color gamut. Accuracy of the mapping is improved, notably for source colors located near the boundary of the source color gamut.

An advantage of this method is to allow notably a colorist a broader range of chroma variations in a third step of mapping.

  • Publication number: 20170180694
Abstract: This method is based on a linear combination of a first encoding of each color based on a first virtual display device notably defined by a first white and a first set of primaries corresponding to colors reflected from the scene under the illumination with the highest luminance, and of a second encoding based on a second virtual display device notably defined by a second white and a second set of primaries corresponding to colors reflected from the scene under the illumination with the lowest luminance, wherein the weight assigned to the first encoding is proportional to the luminance of said color.

  • Publication number: 20160379595
Abstract: For the mapping in a non-linear color space of each source color, a source cusp color and a target cusp color are defined in a linear device-based color space and used to define a cusp lightness condition that the lightness mapping function used for the mapping should satisfy. Generally, the source and target cusp colors do not have the same hue as the source color to map.

  • Publication number: 20160322024
Abstract: According to the invention, the mapping operations are subdivided into two main steps: first, a content-dependent mapping of colors from a source content color gamut into an intermediate color gamut which is common to all images to map, and second, a device-dependent mapping of colors from this intermediate color gamut into the target color gamut.

  • Patent number: 9472162
Abstract: In one implementation, the method includes applying color gamut mapping directly to incoming RGB color coordinates resulting in mapped source coordinates R?G?B?. The source coordinates are then transformed into target coordinates R?G?B?. According to another implementation, incoming source coordinates RGB are transformed into target coordinates R?G?B? and the color gamut mapping is applied directly to the target coordinates R?G?B? resulting in mapped target coordinates R?G?B?.

  • Publication number: 20160182797
Abstract: Image saturation of a sensor pixel array is reduced by adjusting RGB color channel gains for an LED light source. Pixel saturation information is obtained from a sensor pixel array with an image on it illuminated by the LED light source. It is then analyzed to determine saturation levels of the captured image for each RGB component of the LED light source. The gain of each RGB color channel of the LED light source is then adjusted to reduce pixel saturation when using the LED light source for image capturing.
