  • Publication number: 20130315283
Abstract: A convective heat transfer increaser feature for a process sensor. The feature may include at least annular fins, helical fins, knurling or other features which increase surface area. The features also increase turbulence which increases adherence of the turbulent flow to the process sensor.

    Publication date: November 28, 2013
    Inventor: John Patrick Parsons
  • Patent number: 8517604
Abstract: An apparatus for determining air temperature such as an air temperature sensor suitable for use on an aircraft, such as on an aircraft engine, and where the air temperature sensor may be exposed to adverse conditions including high Mach numbers and icing conditions as well as water and debris and be capable of providing accurate temperature readings.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 27, 2013
    Assignee: Unison Industries, LLC
    Inventor: John Patrick Parsons
  • Publication number: 20130167554
Abstract: A method of assembling a temperature sensing device for a gas turbine engine is provided. The method includes providing a temperature sensor and providing a housing configured to envelop the temperature sensor. The method further includes mounting the temperature sensor within the housing such that a portion of the temperature sensor is disposed outside of the housing and such that the housing is configured to receive a flow of cooling air.

  • Patent number: 7845222
Abstract: A method and an assembly for sensing a process parameter are provided. The sensor assembly includes a base, a pedestal including a body extending between a leading edge and a trailing edge in a direction of fluid flow past the body, a first edge of the pedestal coupled to the base, a second edge opposes the first edge. The sensor assembly also includes an airfoil extending from the pedestal, a leading edge of the airfoil aligned with the leading edge of the pedestal, the airfoil extending in a direction of a flow of fluid along the second edge. The sensor assembly further includes a sensor element extending from the second edge spaced apart from the airfoil by a first gap, and a shield at least partially surrounding the sensor element, the shield spaced apart from the airfoil by a second gap defining a fluid flow inlet to the sensor element.

  • Patent number: 5370113
Abstract: A self contained breathing apparatus comprises a compressed air cylinder, facemask and hose which when not in use are stored and carried within a case formed from an assembly of flexible sheet material. The elements of the case are constructed such that when it is opened and reversed it is adapted to form a garment to be worn over the torso and support the air cylinder for use.
