  • Publication number: 20240305090
Abstract: A method and a system for protecting an electrical distribution network, the system including sources of electrical energy, loads and protection devices, each having a nominal trip timer and being configured to supply signals of detection of the presence and direction of a fault current. The system determines monitoring points and a fault condition associated with each monitoring point directly connected to several protection devices, defined by rules relating to the presence and the direction of the fault current detected by each protection device in the vicinity of the monitoring point, and, when a fault condition is confirmed, trips as a priority, with a trip timer less than the nominal trip timer, the opening of at least one of the monitoring devices in the vicinity of the fault point.

  • Patent number: 7619866
Abstract: The invention relates to an electronic trip device and a circuit breaker equipped with said electronic trip device, said trip device comprising at least one current sensor, an actuator, and an electronic processing unit to control said actuator, wherein the electronic processing unit comprises means for monitoring the state of connections of the at least one current sensor and/or of the actuator, and display means for displaying the operating state of the trip device, the means for monitoring acting on the display means to display the state of connections of the at least one current sensor and/or of the actuator. The invention also relates to a method for monitoring the state of connections of an electronic trip device comprising monitoring of the state of the connections and control of display of the state of the connections.

  • Patent number: 5850330
Abstract: The electronic trip device with a thermal memory including a capacitor and a charging resistor arranged in parallel. In normal operation, the capacitor is permanently charged by a supply voltage supplied by the power system to be protected. The trip device includes a processing circuit which performs tripping functions after calculation of a thermal value representative of the thermal state of the power system and detects an imminent drop of the supply voltage. When such a drop is detected, the processing circuit orders discharging of the capacitor until the voltage at the terminals of the capacitor is representative of the calculated numerical value.
