  • Publication number: 20090286654
Abstract: A controller is disclosed, especially but not exclusively, for use in combination with an exercise apparatus. The controller comprises in one arrangement a handlebar assembly and one or more input devices, of at least one of the input device being responsive to movement of the handlebars. • Publication number: 20070093308
Abstract: A golf putting practice device and ball is provided, wherein the ball has a flat end and a friction face which allow the putting practice ball to slide across the level putting surface of the putting practice device. The specific coefficient of friction provided by the friction face of the putting practice ball reduces the speed and the distance the putting practice ball travels over a putting surface of the putting practice device. This allows a golfer to practice a complete range of putts on a conveniently sized portable device.

  • Patent number: 6439067
Abstract: In a preferred embodiment, a shaft sensor for a machine, the shaft sensor including: first and second disks, fixedly orthogonally attached to a portion of a shaft of the machine, the portion of the shaft being subject to torsion, and the first and second disks being operatively attached to the portion of the shaft at spaced apart locations along the portion of the shaft; and a sensor assembly, including first and second sensors, disposed in sensing relationship with the first and second disks to sense relative position of the first and second disks resulting from torsion of the portion of the shaft and to output a signal representative of at least one parameter related to torsion of the shaft. In another preferred embodiment, the shaft is discontinuous and the first and second disks are attached, respectively, to first and second portions of the shaft and have a resilient member disposed therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5949066
Abstract: A position sensor and a method of creating the same which sensor has an incoherent light source, multiple light detectors and a sinusoidal pattern that can be directly installed to the sensor. The light source and detectors are positioned along the axis of motion of the element whose position is to be determined. In a device containing such a movable target element, light from the sensor is directed through the sinusoidal pattern to and reflected from a periodic reflection profile to create detectable sinusoid signals that can be used for positioning purposes.

  • Patent number: 5738741
Abstract: A structural member is reinforced by applying an adhesive material between a reinforcement surface of the structural member and an adhesion surface of a support plate, positioning a vacuum assembly adjacent to an exposed surface of said support plate so as to create an inner space between an exterior surface of said vacuum assembly and said reinforcement surface, and creating a partial vacuum in said inner space so as to force said vacuum assembly and said plate towards said reinforcement surface. A prefabricated vacuum assembly is a vacuum assembly comprising a flexible porous film, a flexible non-porous film, and a flexible sheet of breather material positioned between said porous film and said non-porous film.

  • Patent number: 4081636
Abstract: A differential pressure cutout switch including a low pressure operating point assembly and a high pressure operating point assembly which are mechanically linked and are operable to respond to first and second pressures supplied over respective first and second pressure inlets of the switch to control a contactor switch assembly which is movable to a first position to provide an open circuit between outputs of the switch and movable to a second position to connect a resistance of a finite value between the outputs as a function of the difference between the two pressures. The differential pressure cutout switch is described with reference to an application in a protection control system for monitoring lubrication oil pressure for a compressor of a refrigeration system.
