Publication number: 20230340850Abstract: A method of transferring at least one subterranean core sample from a retrieval vessel to a testing vessel can include removing at least one pressure barrier on the retrieval vessel using a linear actuator while maintaining a sampling pressure on the at least one subterranean core sample at which the at least one subterranean core sample is taken from a subterranean formation. The method can also include pressurizing the testing vessel to the sampling pressure using the linear actuator, and transferring the at least one subterranean core sample from the retrieval vessel to the testing vessel. The method can further include sealing the testing vessel with the at least one subterranean core sample at the sampling pressure, where the testing vessel allows the at least one subterranean core sample to be tested while the at least one subterranean core sample is maintained at the sampling pressure.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2023Publication date: October 26, 2023Inventors: James Daniel Montoya, Jonathon Crain Boudreaux, Patrick Rodriguez, Cole Thomas Brinkley, Scott Jeffrey Seltzer, Marcus Oliver Wigand, Zheng Yang, Michael T. Rauschhuber, Edward Russell Peacher

Patent number: 11773675Abstract: A system for transferring at least one subterranean core sample under pressure can include a retrieval vessel that collects and houses the at least one subterranean core sample at a sampling pressure at which the at least one subterranean core is collected. The system can also include a linear actuator that couples to the retrieval vessel through a valve in the open position at a first time, where the linear actuator facilitates removal of at least one pressure barrier from the retrieval vessel through the valve at the first time while maintaining the sampling pressure of the at least one subterranean sample. The system can further include a testing vessel that couples to the linear actuator through the valve in the open position at a second time, and a hydraulic device that facilitates pressurizing the testing vessel to the sampling pressure at the second time.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2020Date of Patent: October 3, 2023Assignee: CHEVRON U.S.A. INC.Inventors: James Daniel Montoya, Jonathon Crain Boudreaux, Patrick Rodriguez, Cole Thomas Brinkley

Patent number: 9316063Abstract: A system for applying power into a wellbore. The system can include a casing, a tubing string, a first and second isolator sub, a power source, and an electrical device. The casing has a first cavity running therethrough. The tubing string is disposed within the first cavity without contacting the casing, where the tubing string has a second cavity running therethrough. The first isolator sub is mechanically coupled to the tubing string and positioned between the neutral section and the power-transmitting section of the tubing string. The power source is electrically coupled to the power-transmitting section of the tubing string below the first isolator sub. The second isolator sub is mechanically coupled to the tubing string and positioned between the bottom neutral section and the power-transmitting section of the tubing string. The electrical device is electrically coupled to a bottom end of the power-transmitting section of the tubing string.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2013Date of Patent: April 19, 2016Assignee: CHEVRON U.S.A. INC.Inventors: Manuel Eduardo Gonzalez, Melvin Clark Thompson, Jacobo Archuleta, Patrick Rodriguez, David William Beck, Scot Ellis, Wade Ogg
