  • Patent number: 11577592
Abstract: A continuous sealing flat for a truck cargo box for a unibody motor vehicle includes a pair of parallel opposed top side rails and a cab back panel disposed between and orthogonally thereto. A central portion of the cab back panel has a central ledge having a substantially flat upper surface extending horizontally between each of the pair of parallel opposed top side rails. A pair of corner members is disposed over and proximate a forward end of each of the parallel opposed top side rails. A forward end of a horizontal portion of each of the pair of corner members comprises a flat upper surface proximate to and at substantially the same vertical height as a vertical height of the flat upper surface of the central ledge to form a substantially continuous corner flat upper surface.

  • Patent number: 10699893
Abstract: Cylindrical ion traps (CITs) that can be used for molecular sample identification, as well as systems and methods using the same, are provided. A CIT can utilize a notched ring electrode having an inner diameter that increases as a first end of the CIT is approached from the center of the CIT or from a second end of the CIT. The first end can be the one positioned closer to the ion detector than is the second end, which can be positioned closer to the ion source than is the first end.

  • Patent number: 9012008
Abstract: Diffraction suppressed mirrors having an invisible edge are disclosed for incident light at both targeted wavelengths and broadband incident light. The mirrors have a first having at least one discontiguous portion having a plurality of nanostructured apertures. The discontiguous mirror portion impedance matches a relatively high impedance portion of the mirror to a relatively low impedance portion of the mirror, thereby reducing the diffraction edge effect otherwise present in a conventional mirror.

  • Patent number: 8134130
Abstract: An ion source may include first, second, and third electrodes. The first electrode may be a repeller having a V-shaped groove. The second electrode may be an electron emitter filament disposed adjacent the base of the V-shaped groove. The third electrode may be an anode that defines an enclosed volume with an aperture formed therein adjacent the electron emitter filament. A potential of the first electrode may be less than a potential of the second electrode, and the potential of the second electrode may be less than a potential of the third electrode. A fourth electrode that is disposed between the electron emitter filament and the anode may be used to produce a more collimated electron beam.

  • Publication number: 20110076633
Abstract: A self-ligating orthodontic bracket has an archwire slot, two outer tracks extending in an occlusal-gingival direction on the outer lateral surfaces of the bracket, and a vertical trough extending in an occlusal-gingival direction between the outer tracks. A clip has two parallel outer arms and a central tongue between the outer arms. The outer tracks of the bracket slidably engage the outer arms of the clip and the central tongue is slidably engaged by the vertical trough of the bracket, thereby allowing the clip to slidably move between an open position in which the outer arms of the clip are retracted from the archwire slot to allow an archwire to be placed into the archwire slot, and a closed position in which the outer arms of the clip extend across the archwire slot to retain the archwire in the archwire slot.

  • Patent number: 6468016
Abstract: A method for temporarily storing a plurality of endless, intermediate articles of manufacture being characterized by: (i) placing an endless, intermediate article of manufacture in a load/unload position on the storage device 10; (ii) indexing the article out of the load/unload position and into a storage position; and (iii) repeating these steps with additional articles. In the preferred method, the step of indexing the article into a storage position being further characterized by the steps of: (i) detecting the presence of the article in the load/unload position; (ii) moving the article away from the load/unload position; and (iii) stopping the article when the presence of the article in the load/unload position is no longer detected.

  • Patent number: 6215205
Abstract: A conveyor assembly and method for conveying and storing a strip material in a conveyor system that is subject to changes in length of the strip material due to intermittent operation includes an upper conveyor (16), an adjustable substantially horizontal center conveyor (22) for receiving the strip material (34) from the upper conveyor, and a lower conveyor (28) for receiving the associated strip material from the center conveyor. A computer (94) controls the movement and rotation of the center conveyor, and loop detecting apparatus on the center conveyor may also detect a loop (90) in the strip material carried by the center conveyor and thereby detecting changes in length of the strip material not predetermined by the computer. A servomechanism (100) activated by signals from the computer or the loop detecting apparatus moves the center conveyor in a substantially horizontal direction.

  • Patent number: 5556276
Abstract: An orthodontic appliance for use in the mouth which includes an annealing process to provide a marking area. A laser is used to surface anneal an orthodontic appliance, such as an orthodontic bracket, for identification purposes and to withstand a number of recycling processes for sterilization purposes. The surface annealing process does not remelt the marking area and is an advantage over the prior art in that the marking area is not rough or weakened by remelting the structure.
