Patent number: 8313346Abstract: A communications cable having a plurality of twisted wire pairs each having a substantially uniform twist rate along the cable. An elongated shielding separator is positioned between the twisted wire pairs and physically separates them from one another. The shielding separator has a plurality of electrically non-conductive separator sections positioned between the twisted wire pairs and a plurality of electrically conductive separator sections arranged in an alternating pattern with the non-conductive separator sections along the shielding separator. Each of the conductive separator sections has one of a predetermined number of section lengths and is arranged along the shielding separator such that the conductive separator sections are substantially aperiodic with the twist rates of the twisted wire pairs. Optionally, the cable includes a continuous or discontinuous outer cable shielding system enclosing the discontinuous shielding separator and the plurality of twisted wire pairs.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2009Date of Patent: November 20, 2012Assignee: Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventors: Bryan L. Sparrowhawk, Patrick S. McNutt, Franklin C. Marti

Patent number: 8028452Abstract: An enhanced patch panel indicia system includes a cover to receive a backing as the primary indicia receiver and to receive labels as auxiliary indicia receivers. The indicia system further includes an enhanced patch panel with a front face. The cover can include clip members to allow the cover to be snap-fitted onto the front face of the patch panel with the cover in juxtaposition with the front face, and in some implementations, the backing positioned therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2008Date of Patent: October 4, 2011Assignee: Leviton Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Erik Laursen, Patrick S. McNutt, Edward R. Burns

Patent number: 7534958Abstract: Cable retainer implementations of a cable retaining system for use with patch panels and other multiport communication equipment are discussed herein. The cable retainer implementations can be useful for supporting, ordering, and otherwise managing cables coupled to multiport equipment found installed in communication racks or in stand-alone applications. The multiport equipment typically includes patch panels and can include other types of multiport equipment as well including network hubs.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2006Date of Patent: May 19, 2009Assignee: Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventors: Patrick S. Patent number: 7470858Abstract: To assist in searching, the following abstract includes a receptacle system used to keep a receptacle cap secure through use of an enhanced retaining strap with its associated wall plate when the receptacle cap is unscrewed. The enhanced retaining strap is a separate individual component and is separably coupled to the rest of the receptacle system so that if it is pulled with sufficient force, the strap will break free from the rest of the receptacle system before associated members such as gaskets are damaged or loosened.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2006Date of Patent: December 30, 2008Assignee: Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventors: Patrick S. McNutt, Phillip Phung, Frank Chin-Hwan Kim

Patent number: 7278879Abstract: A connector isolation station system includes ports to receive connectors and includes shield members. The shield members have material properties to substantially shield, attenuate, absorb, diminish, or otherwise hinder or at least partially block wireless signals and noise from impinging upon or otherwise interfering with signal transmissions occurring through the connectors located in the connector isolation station. For instance, transmissions through adjacent connectors are substantially prevented from interfering with one another.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2006Date of Patent: October 9, 2007Assignee: Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventors: Frank Chin-Hwan Kim, Jeffrey P. Seefried, John Redfield, Darrell W. Zielke, Patrick S. McNutt, Phillip Phung

Patent number: 7192302Abstract: An integrated sealable plate assembly for a sealable electrical or fiber optic connector can be used in industrial and other settings. The integrated sealable plate assembly has a plate with frame portions that are inserted into grooves of a gasket so that the plate and gasket can be coupled together as a unit for ready installation with the junction box. The gasket includes appendage portions with inner frame portions for sealing screw holes of the plate without need of conventional o-rings. When the plate and gasket are coupled together as a unit the appendage portions also serve to position and retain screws along with the plate and the gasket to further aid in installation.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2005Date of Patent: March 20, 2007Assignee: Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventors: Phillip Phung, Patrick S.
