  • Publication number: 20240188918
Abstract: One embodiment is a method of deconvolving overlapping first and second pulses in a photon-counting CT scanning system, the method comprising detecting a first pulse event having a first detected level; detecting a second pulse event having a second detected level; determining an amount of time that elapses between the detected first pulse event and the detected second pulse event; and reconstructing the first pulse and the second pulse using the first and second detected levels, the duration of time between the first and second pulse events, and a known pulse shape.

  • Publication number: 20230228888
Abstract: One embodiment is a method for counting charge events detected by a pixel in a photon-counting computed tomography (PCCT) scanning system comprising a plurality of discriminators, wherein each discriminator is associated with a respective one of a plurality of threshold voltage levels. The method includes detecting a signal output from one of the discriminators; incrementing a quantitative count corresponding to the threshold voltage level associated with the one of the discriminators if the detected discriminator output signal meets a first condition; and incrementing a qualitative count if the detected discriminator output signal meets at least one second condition.

  • Publication number: 20220361833
Abstract: One embodiment is circuitry for implementing a baseline restoration (“BLR”) circuit for a photon-counting computed tomography (“PCCT”) signal chain, the circuitry comprising a multi-level discriminator circuit for receiving a shaper voltage from the PCCT signal chain, the discriminator circuit outputting a digital signal indicative of one of a range of voltages within which the shaper voltage falls; a digital-to-analog converter (“DAC”) connected to receive the digital signal output from the discriminator circuit, the DAC converting the received digital signal to a corresponding active reference voltage; and a feedback circuit that injects a cancellation current proportional to the difference between the shaper voltage and the active reference voltage at the input of the PCCT signal chain.

  • Patent number: 7504812
Abstract: A voltage switching regulator includes a pulsewidth modulation (PWM) controller providing voltage regulation when the voltage switching regulator is experiencing being in an high-power mode. A pulse-frequency modulation (PFM) controller provides voltage regulation when the voltage switching regulator is experiencing being in a low-power mode. An error-voltage estimator enables switching between the low-power mode and the high-power mode while keeping the voltage switching regulator output in regulation between the desired minimum and maximum voltages.
