  • Publication number: 20140229475
Abstract: A document analysis and search system may include a program module storable on a client device positioned in communication with a network which, in turn, is in communication with a document provider database and a thesaurus database. The program module may include instructions executable by a processor of the client device to locate at least one document from among the plurality of documents. The program module may include an interface module and a document analysis module. The interface module may receive concept data relating to the subject matter of the search and a plurality of documents relating to the concept data from the document provider database. The interface module may generate and display a document analysis graphical user interface.

  • Patent number: 8739032
Abstract: A document analysis system receives multiple concepts along with multiple reference documents and generates sensory indicators that assist a researcher in assessing the relevance of each of the documents to the concepts. In one exemplary aspect, the document analysis system displays a table of keywords separated into blocks, each block of keywords corresponding to one of the concepts. Each block is colored according to the prevalence of any keyword within a given keyword group. The color of a block thus indicates the relative presence of a concept in the document. The document analysis system also determines a unique color for each block of keywords for highlighting in the text of the document. In this manner a researcher can quickly identify passages that contain multiple concepts. Additionally, the researcher is provided the ability to quickly locate reference characters, figure numbers and patent numbers in the document.

  • Publication number: 20140040302
Abstract: The present invention is a method and system for enhancing the output of standard thesaurus databases. The user requires little knowledge of the meaning of a word for which he is seeking related words. The system requires at least one starter word, and it returns all synonyms regardless of meaning from multiple databases. The synonyms are then arranged in a two dimensional array, and sorted according to frequency. The user then scans the list, starting from the top, and selects one or more entries from the sorted frequency array, and the re-runs. After several cycles of running and selecting new entries, the related words having the highest relevance to the searcher will rise to top of the frequency array. The end result is a group of related words having one or more meanings, and also having a relationship to a single concept being sought by the user.

  • Publication number: 20120197910
Abstract: A system and method for efficiently and accurately identifying relevant document classifications is contemplated. The document analysis system receives classified reference documents along with a relevancy indicator for each document and generates sensory indicators that assist a researcher in identifying relevant classifications that have not been previously researched. In one aspect, the document analysis system generates a table of classifications, the classifications being determined by scoring of each classification cited within each relevant document. The system then determines a sensory indicator (e.g. a color) for each classification that indicates the extent to which the classification has been previously searched. The classification analysis window thus allows the researcher to quickly determine (e.g. by visual inspection) which classification codes have been cited most frequently as well as which classification codes require further search.
