  • Publication number: 20050010263
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for temporary reduction of heart movement during an operation, more particularly a heart operation, comprising a neurostimulation unit (20) for stimulation of the nerves (3) that slow down heart frequency, said unit including at least one electrode device (1) with at least one stimulation pole (2), wherein a control unit (19) connected to the neurostimulation device (20) is provided. Said control device has a first input device (26) for inputting a degree of immobilization and is configured to influence the operating state of the neurostimulation device (20) depending on the previously set degree of immobilization.

  • Patent number: 6690971
Abstract: A device for the therapy of supraventricular and ventricular bradycardial and tachycardial disrhythmias and/or for influencing the heart pumping force, including: electrodes for electrical and/or magnetic stimulation of parasympathetic nerves which innervate the sinus node, the atria, the atrioventricular node or the ventricles; electrodes for electrical and/or magnetic stimulation of the atria and ventricles and/or for ventricular cardioversion/defibrillation; a device for producing electrical and/or magnetic stimulation pulses which are passed to the electrodes; and a device for detecting the rate at which the human atria and ventricles beat, wherein said device measures atrial and ventricular contractions.

  • Patent number: 6611713
Abstract: An implantable device for diagnosing and distinguishing supraventricular and ventricular tachycardias includes electrodes for stimulating parasympathetic nerves of the atrioventricular and/or sinus node; electrodes for stimulating the atria and ventricles and/or for ventricular cardioversion/defibrillation; a device for producing electrical parasympathetic stimulation pulses passed to the electrodes; a device for detecting the atrial and/or ventricular rate, by ascertaining a time interval between atrial and/or ventricular depolarization; a device for programming a frequency limit above which a rate of the ventricles is recognized as tachycardia; a comparison device for comparing the measured heart rate during parasympathetic stimulation to the heart rate prior to or without parasympathetic stimulation and/or to the frequency limit, which delivers an output signal when with parasympathetic stimulation the heart rate falls below the comparison value by more than a predetermined amount; and an inhibition unit w

  • Publication number: 20020026228
Abstract: An electrode for intravascular stimulation, cardioversion and/or defibrillation in the form of a stimulation probe which can be fixed in arterial/venous vessels of the body and by way of which electrical or magnetic pulses and defibrillation/cardioversion shocks can be delivered, which is provided with a feed line, wherein there is provided a metallic, electrically conductive, tubular wire unit which adjoins the feed line in the axial direction and which forms an expansion body and which can be deployed in the corresponding vessel and which under expansion bears from the interior against the wall of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 6292695
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of controlling cardiac fibrillation, tachycardia, or cardiac arrhythmia by the use of an electrophysiology catheter having a tip section that contains at least one stimulating electrode, the electrode being stably placed at a selected intravascular location. The electrode is connected to a stimulating means, and stimulation is applied across the wall of the vessel, transvascularly, to a sympathetic or parasympathetic nerve that innervates the heart at a strength sufficient to depolarize the nerve and effect the control of the heart.
