Patent number: 9052097Abstract: Support clips and systems thereof are provided. Support clips include a web, a lower flange, and an upper flange. The lower flange extends from the web orthogonally. The upper flange extends from the web, towards the lower flange, at an angle. The lower flange includes an aperture for receiving a fastener. Systems include support clips of the present invention coupling a ballast housing to a mounting module. The lower flange is secured to the housing, and the upper flange engages the mounting module, such that the housing is supported by the support clip against the mounting module when in a latched position. A user is able to secure a fastener through the support clip aperture and openings in the housing and mounting module without having to use additional hands.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2009Date of Patent: June 9, 2015Assignee: Cooper Technologies CompanyInventors: Patrick Stephen Blincoe, Clifford Randy Helmer

Patent number: 8911116Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) floodlight is described herein. The LED floodlight can include a LED housing assembly coupled to a driver assembly. The LED housing can include a number of LEDs mounted on a front side of a LED housing and a number of heat sink protrusions extending from a back side of the LED housing. The driver assembly can include a driver mounted within a driver housing, where the front side of the driver housing couples to the end of the heat sink protrusions that extend from the back side of the LED housing. The LEDs may be coupled to a number of reflectors. The reflectors can include a reflector body having a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portion can form a shape that is an elongated version of the shape formed by the bottom portion.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2012Date of Patent: December 16, 2014Assignee: Cooper Technologies CompanyInventors: Patrick Stephen Blincoe, Kantesh Vittal Agnihotri, Gregg Lehman, Rajendra Kage

Patent number: 8545064Abstract: Lighting assemblies or lighting fixtures suitable for use in a hazardous location are provided. Generally, the lighting fixtures include a light source assembly, a heat sink, a driver housing or gear module, a thermally conductive sealing member between the light source assembly and the heat sink, and a thermally nonconductive sealing member or a thermally semi-conductive sealing member positioned between the heat sink and the driver housing. The conductive sealing member has a thermal conductivity of at least about 6 Watts per meter-Kelvin, and/or a thermal impedance of less than about 0.21 degree-C inch squared per Watt. The lighting fixtures have controlled directional heat transfer from the light source assembly to the exterior of the lighting fixture, while minimizing the heat transferred to the driver housing.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2012Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: Cooper Technologies CompanyInventors: Patrick Stephen Blincoe, Andrew Adams Litteer

Publication number: 20120170289Abstract: A lighting unit includes a housing, a lamp fixture configured to be coupled to the housing, an element extending from the lamp fixture and configured to be received in the housing, and a sealing member defining an aperture for receiving the element therethrough. A periphery of the aperture forms a fluid-tight seal around the element. In another aspect, a lighting unit includes a housing and an enclosure coupled to the housing and configured to define an interior space, wherein the interior space is sealed from an interior of the housing. In another aspect, a method for sealing a lighting unit includes providing a housing, an enclosure coupled to the housing, and an opening in the housing in communication with the enclosure, placing a seal between the housing and the enclosure, and applying a sealing member to the opening to seal the opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2011Publication date: July 5, 2012Applicant: COOPER TECHNOLOGIES COMPANYInventor: Patrick Stephen Blincoe
