  • Patent number: 11918725
Abstract: A dual lumen coaxial cannula, assembly includes a first infusion tube having a first elongate body defining a first lumen therethrough and a second drainage tube co-axially aligned with the first infusion tube and having a second elongate body with a second lumen defined by a space between the first infusion tube and second drainage tube. A connector is removably attached to the first infusion tube and the second drainage tube for coupling the dual lumen coaxial cannula to an extracorporeal blood circuit. The first infusion tube and the second drainage tube include a plurality of infusion and drainage apertures, respectively, provided at the distal end and extending through the sidewall of the first infusion tube and the drainage tube, respectively.

  • Patent number: 8711345
Abstract: An annular position detection method provides a plurality of light emitters on a first imaginary circle centered on an axis, the emitters directing individual, well-defined, overlapping light beams to a pair of light detectors positioned on a second imaginary circle centered on that axis. The detectors include pairs of diametrically opposite photosensors producing outputs depending upon the areas thereof exposed to light from the emitters. A light blocker is rotatably mounted on the axis so that the blocker blocks light to different extents of the photosensors depending upon its orientation about the axis. The outputs from all of the photosensors are processed to produce a position signal that varies with the angular position of the blocker and the relative intensities of the emitters are adjusted so that the position signal is substantially linear at all operative angles of the blocker. Apparatus for practicing the method is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8680429
Abstract: Techniques are described for laser-scribing a feature on a surface in relation to a reference feature on that surface, such as a feature created by a previous placement of the laser beam. In particular, using a laser beam focusing and deflection system to direct a laser scribing spot onto a surface through an optical path, an optical detection system provides reliable detection of the position of an existing feature on the surface as viewed through the optical path of the deflection system. Based on feedback provided from the detection system to the deflection system, the position of the laser beam may be modified through the deflection system in relation to the viewed feature to scribe a subsequent feature on the surface which tracks the existing feature in real time. A method of scribing to accomplish the objectives is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8566992
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing an extendable and retractable work platform from a work vessel is disclosed. The apparatus is comprised of first and second platform support frames with associated decking surfaces. These support frames are configured so that second support frame may be slidably received within the first support frame. The first support frame is mounted to the deck of a work vessel so that the second support frame with associated decking may be moved or “telescopically” extended from the first support frame away from the side of the vessel. The work platform is provided with a plurality of detachable deck extensions as well as detachable hand railing sections. A means to extend and retract the platform is also provided. The decking surface of the work platform may have an opening to provide access to areas below the work platform such as to a well bore or the piping and valve superstructure of a well bore.

  • Patent number: 8522922
Abstract: A hinged, foldable work platform that may be mounted on the deck of a vessel such as lift boat or type of work boat is described. The platform has a support frame and a work deck frame pivotally mounted to each other. When not in use, the work deck frame is pivotally folded for storage upon the support frame. When the work platform is required, the vessel is positioned at a desired location and the work platform is deployed by pivoting the work deck frame from the support frame and unfolded so that the work deck frame extends from the side of the vessel to a work area away from the vessel.

  • Patent number: 6758363
Abstract: A portable beverage container that has a body defining a receptacle therein for containing a generally cylindrical cup liner and liquid that can be set inside of the body of the container to hold liquids and the like. The body has a handle for easy grasping and also has a plurality of holes on the bottom perimeter that correspond to raised air passage channels formed between the outside of the generally cylindrical cup liner and the inner wall of the body for increased air flow around the generally cylindrical cup liner. The generally cylindrical cup liner has threads protruding from the top of the cylindrical cup liner to accommodate the inner threading of a top cover that can be twisted onto and off of the top of the cylindrical cup liner. There is a fitted snap-on bottom cap for the bottom of the body as well as a twist-on cap that can form a vacuum seal on the bottom of the body.
