  • Patent number: 7811210
Abstract: A crank assembly for fitness equipment includes a ductile spacer engaged between a crankshaft mounting surface and a crank arm mounting surface at the interface thereof and conforming respectively to each to maximize surface contact area to distribute loads across a larger area.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 25, 2008
Date of Patent: October 12, 2010
    Assignee: Brunswick Corporation
Inventors: Kenneth C. Lundgreen, Laszlo Ujvari, Patrick A. Tibbits
  • Patent number: 7300210
Abstract: A locking collar comprising an annular collar having an outer surface, an inner surface, and a first end positioned opposite a second end defining a gap therebetween, and a locking component extending from the first end of the annular collar and into engagement with the second end of the annular collar, such that when the locking component is tightened, the first end and the second end are drawn together, and the annular collar is comprised of plates that are secured together to form a laminated locking collar.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 8, 2004
Date of Patent: November 27, 2007
Assignee: Emerson Power Transmission Manufacturing, LLP
Inventors: James Johnson, James A. Parejko, Patrick Tibbits
  • Publication number: 20060056752
Abstract: A bearing with lubricant having metal or metal alloy nanoparticles that are more anodic than the metal or metal alloy of which the inner or outer raceways of the bearing are constructed; and method for using the same.
    Type: Application
    Filed: August 10, 2005
    Publication date: March 16, 2006
    Inventor: Patrick Tibbits
  • Publication number: 20060002648
Abstract: A tapered roller thrust bearing with more optimally distributed loading on each tapered rolling element to reduce maximum tapered roller contact stress in a cost effective and efficient manner is provided. The bearing may include an upper plate, a bottom plate having a bottom surface, and a plurality of tapered rolling elements, where the interface between the bottom surface of the bottom plate and a top surface of a bearing support is such that some of the loading on the tapered rolling elements is moved radially outwardly on the bearing to a region of larger cross-sectional diameter of the tapered rolling elements. This may be accomplished by appropriately tapering the bottom surface of the bottom plate of the bearing, by appropriately tapering the top surface of the bearing support, or a combination of the two.

  • Patent number: 6616338
Abstract: A bearing for providing the ability to more optimally and evenly share the load among a set of rolling elements to reduce maximum roller load in a cost effective and efficient manner, is provided. The bearing may include an outer race and an inner race, where the inner race includes a first and a second outer radius. The first outer radius of the inner race is radially spaced from the outer race, and the second outer radius forms an eccentric section. Rolling elements are positioned between the inner and outer races, where a portion of the bearing load is transferred to adjacent rolling elements located at the eccentric section.

  • Patent number: 6148690
Abstract: A cam follower mounting assembly in which a cam follower has a cam follower stud that is not threadedly mounted to a mounting plate, but rather, is secured to the mounting plate via a set screw having a spherical tip that securably interfaces with a complementary annular groove in the cam follower stud. The annular groove is located near an end of the cam follower stud opposite the follower wheel.
