  • Publication number: 20140126822
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing images, the method comprising: using a radar (4), generating a first image of an area of terrain (8); using a sensor (5), generating a second image of the area of terrain (8); performing an image segmentation process on the first image to identify a point in the first image as corresponding to a ground surface of the area of terrain (8); and projecting the identified point in the first image from the first image into the second image to identify a point in the second image as corresponding to the ground surface of the area of terrain (8). The method may further comprise: for the identified point in the second image, defining a sub-image of the second image containing that point; and performing a feature extraction process on the sub-image to identify points in the sub-image that correspond to the ground surface.

  • Publication number: 20140067947
Abstract: In particular embodiments, one or more computer systems of a social-networking system identify a user viewing video content on a first display device, identify the video content being viewed on the first display device by the user, and determine a second display device associated with the identified user. The one or more computer systems of the social-networking system determine an action related to the video content being viewed by the user on the first display device and provide one or more instructions to the determined second display device to display a call-to-action associated with the determined action.

  • Publication number: 20140068692
Abstract: In particular embodiments, one or more computer systems of a social-networking system receive a first video stream from a content source, receive social content from a social graph of the social-networking system, and generate an overlay area comprising at least a portion of the social content. The social graph includes a plurality of nodes and edges connecting the nodes, the nodes comprising user nodes that are each associated with a particular user of the social-networking system. The one or more computer systems of the social-networking system determine a placement for the overlay area within the first video stream, generate a modified video stream using at least the first video stream and the overlay area, and provide the modified video stream for display on a display device. The overlay area is placed within the modified video stream according to the determined placement.

  • Publication number: 20140068460
Abstract: In particular embodiments, one or more computer systems of a social-networking system identify media content being viewed on a first display device by a user of the social-networking system and receive an indication that the user has selected a time-sensitive button. The one or more computer systems of the social-networking system generate social content according to the identified media content and the indication that the user has selected the time-sensitive button. The one or more computer systems of the social-networking system update a graph of the social-networking system to include the social content. The graph has a plurality of nodes and edges connecting the nodes. The nodes include user nodes that are each associated with a particular user of the social-networking system.

  • Publication number: 20130293408
Abstract: Apparatus and a method for processing a radar image, the method comprising: using a radar, generating a radar image of an area of terrain (8), the radar image deriving from radar observations taken along a plurality of azimuth angles; performing a background extraction process on the radar image to extract a background image comprising extracted radar observations, the background extraction process comprising estimating a range spread of a radar echo from the surface of the terrain (8) as function of the azimuth angle and a tilt of the radar relative to the surface of the terrain (8); fitting a model to the extracted radar observations along a particular azimuth angle; determining a value of a parameter indicative of the goodness of fit between the model and the extracted radar observations along the particular azimuth angle; and determining a classification depending on the value of the parameter for that azimuth angle.

  • Publication number: 20070166554
Abstract: Components and materials, including thermal transfer materials, described herein comprise at least one heat spreader component coupled with a metal-based coating, layer and/or film, at least one thermal interface material and in some contemplated embodiments at least one adhesive material. The heat spreader component comprises a top surface, a bottom surface and at least one heat spreader material. The thermal interface material is directly deposited onto at least part of at least one of the surfaces of the heat spreader component.

  • Publication number: 20060282956
Abstract: A Combination Carpet Row Separator and Seam Cutter is disclosed. The separator and cutter tool enables a skilled installer to accurately separate the carpet between rows and simultaneously make a high precision cut along the separated row. To improve performance, there is both a front ridge for guiding the tool along the separated row, as well as a rear ridge to prevent the tool's tendency to “fishtail.” To improve performance even more, the tool has a separator tip element extending into the carpet row ahead of the front ridge to create a more definite split in the carpet along the row. To accommodate a variety of carpet types, the device provides separator tip elements in both pointed and chisel-tipped profiles. For convenience, the device has a spare blade receptacle formed within the housing to hold spare blades. Finally, the device may have a laser guide associated with it to provide additional alignment assistance to the carpet installer while cutting patterned carpets.

  • Patent number: 6705215
Abstract: A Carpet Seam Press is disclosed. The press includes means for cooling and pressing a recently-formed seam between two adjoining sections of carpet. The press further includes a light projecting from at least one end for illuminating confined work areas. The press also includes a bottom plate having several small holes formed in it and fans for forcing air through those holes and onto the seam being pressed and cooled. Further yet, the press may provide an electrical convenience outlet to eliminate the need for more than a single extension cord.
