Abstract: A teleconferencing system and method for producing an audio view at a remote site wherein the audio view is perceptually adapted to at least one video view of a local site. The teleconferencing system includes a camera system configured to generate at a local site an imaging view of an environment around the camera system for transmission to a remote site. A positional audio system coupled to the camera system produces an audio view from audio data at the remote site that is perceptually adapted to the video view at the local site. The audio data is transmitted as monaural audio data from the local to remote sites.
