  • Publication number: 20170039324
Abstract: Using a centralized system, it is possible to allow multiple disparate health care providers to gain a complete view of data regarding a patient's health and health care. Data accessible through such a central system can also be made available for researchers after being de-identified. Data in such a central system can not only include data culled from traditional physical and electronic medical records, but can also include data from distributed diagnostic devices, such as fitness trackers and consumer diagnostic equipment. Such a central system could potentially be accessed through applications made available to patients and health care providers and, in implementations where they are present, such applications could also be used for other purposes, such as performing interactive health evaluations and making recommendations of actions to take to maintain or restore a user's health.

  • Patent number: 9390460
Abstract: A system for dynamically generating a digital image comprising a security feature for a document. The system includes a processor 222 configured to receive data indicative of a security feature to be embedded in the document. The processor 222 generates a digital image having content at least partially specified by the received data. The processor 222 transmits a signal indicative of the generated digital image. The generated digital image has a foreground and a background, at least one of which includes a line screen pattern. The foreground and the background of the digital image are configured such that a scanned reproduction of an original printed version of the digital image is reproduced in an altered form relative to the original printed version.

  • Patent number: 9311583
Abstract: A copy protection system for barcode includes a barcode pattern that is printed together with a security pattern that includes a line screen that intersects elements of the barcode pattern. A difference in print density between the barcode elements and the security pattern is sufficient to allow the barcode pattern to be read by a barcode scanner. However, upon reproduction of the printed barcode pattern and security pattern by a copier, the barcode pattern is not similarly readable on the resulting reproduction.

  • Publication number: 20150370861
Abstract: Methods and systems for searching enterprise data are provided. The method is for searching data and includes identifying edges associating data and/or people. The method also includes assigning a resistance value to an edge based on strength(s) of association, the resistance value being inversely related to the strength of the association. The method further includes forming a resistance graph connecting the user with the data and the people based on the values of the edges. Additionally, the method includes providing results for a search query from a user based on the resistance graph with lower resistance values being prioritized for the user.

  • Patent number: 9171347
Abstract: A system and method for hidden security feature detection, analysis and authentication using a smart device is disclosed. The smart device can detect and analyze hidden security features using the camera capability of the smart device to capture a digital image, and then analyze and authenticate that image using a security service including a database of security feature data, processing rules, and other information. The security service can support a variety of smart devices and security features. The smart device includes a security-specific autofocus function that allows the smart device to be positioned within a range of distances and angles from a target document that includes hidden/covert security feature(s). The smart device can display an enhanced image showing the hidden security feature(s) and/or report if the security feature is valid or invalid, along with related information, via beeps, vibration, display, text messaging, or other reporting capabilities.

  • Patent number: 8649426
Abstract: Video data that is associated with a videoconference or a telepresence session is captured and a video signal relating thereto is provided. The video signal is divided into segments, which are identical from one video frame to another subsequent video frame within the video signal. Each segment is encoded independently, to result in encoded segment data such that both I-frames and P-frames are generated for a given segment, so as to support independent reconstruction of segments at a distant end. The encoded segment data is transmitted subsequently to the distant end.

  • Patent number: 8576269
Abstract: Visual information over a network by filtering a full resolution image signal to produce a series of sub-bands, wherein at least one of the sub-bands constitutes a base sub-band representing an image of reduced resolution and wherein additional sub-bands carry higher resolution information. At least the base sub-band is transmitted to a far end endpoint to permit image reconstruction at the far end endpoint at a degree of resolution dependent on the number of sub-bands used to reconstruct the image.

  • Publication number: 20130262226
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for matching of offline data with online data by comparing the offline data with online data using credit-related data. The systems and methods receive offline data and online data and retrieve credit-related data with identifying information for targeted individuals. The offline data records and online data records are independently compared to the credit-related data to determine whether the data records correspond to a matching targeted individual. If both an offline data record and an online data record correspond to a matching targeted individual, then a key is generated that links the offline data record and the online data record. The key may be stored in a key database. The key may be utilized for targeted marketing to the matching targeted individual. The matching of offline data and online data may be more accurate and complete.

  • Patent number: 8512385
Abstract: A bendable bone plate (10) is disclosed which is adapted for use in situ as a conformable bone splint to fix the spatial relationship of at least two bone parts (80). The bone plate (10) has an elongated plate (11) made of a bendable material. A plurality of screw apertures (24) extending through the top (14) and bottom (16) surfaces are disposed along the length (L) of the plate. Bone screws (28) are inserted through the apertures into the underlying bone parts (80) to anchor the elongated plate (11) to the bone parts (80). At least two of the screw apertures (24) are disposed as a closely spaced pair (40) of screw apertures (24) with a “bend relief zone” (60) disposed between the closely spaced apart screw apertures (24). The bend relief zone (60) is disposed to allow the elongated plate (11) to be bent across the bend relief zone (60) up to a certain angle (A) without deforming the screw apertures (24) adjacent the bend relief zone (60).

  • Patent number: 8446452
Abstract: Exchanging of videoconference data between a first endpoint and a second endpoint via a network includes receiving, at the first endpoint, statistical data relating to transmission of first videoconference data. In particular, the first videoconference data is data that is transmitted previously from the first endpoint to the second endpoint via the network, and the statistical data relates to network performance characteristics during transmission of the first videoconference data. An approximately optimized data transmission rate for the network performance characteristics is determined, based on the statistical data. The output bit rate of a video encoder associated with the first endpoint is adjusted, such that second videoconference data, relating to the same videoconference at a time that is later than the first videoconference data, is encoded to provide output data at an adjusted output bit rate for being transmitted via the network at approximately the optimized data transmission rate.

  • Patent number: 8446823
Abstract: A method is disclosed for managing multiple data streams transported over a common communications resource in a packet network, wherein data flowing through the resource travels in both directions, and wherein each stream is subject to data peaks. The round trip delay is determined for each data stream, and the transmission of data peaks in one or more of the data streams is delayed to at least reduce the degree of coincidence in the data peaks of different streams without increasing the maximum round trip delay for the data streams.

  • Patent number: 8252032
Abstract: A bone plate is described which is adapted for use in situ to fix a spatial relationship of at least two bone parts. The bone plate has at least one pair of the bone screw apertures that are adjoined by a relief-space contiguous with the open space of the screw apertures themselves. An adjoined aperture pair forms a complex aperture and has a center-to-center distance of the apertures along an axis running through the centers of the apertures. The center-to-center distance is equal to or greater than the sum of the radii of the heads of the individual bone screw used with the aperture pair. At least one of the screw apertures has a screw head seat having at least one relief notch set into a surface of the screw head seat. The relief notch provides desirable advantages that are not similarly accomplished in their absence.
