  • Publication number: 20040103295
Abstract: A method, computer system, and computer program product for restricting access to digital content data. The disclosed invention stores the digital content data on a user device, and classifies the digital content data as either controlled data or non-controlled data. If the digital content data is controlled data, the disclosed invention stores a trusted voucher on the user device, the trusted voucher being associated with the controlled data and comprising at least one permitted function, and restricts access to the controlled data by the user device to said at least one permitted function. If the digital content data is non-controlled data, the disclosed invention associates a local voucher stored on the user device with the non-controlled data, the local voucher comprising at least one intended function, and restricts access to the non-controlled data by the user device to said at least one intended function.

  • Publication number: 20040033797
Abstract: A method and system for revenue sharing between mobile operators and content providers. The content providers, through a data network, provide data services to the end users of the mobile operators. For the data services, the content providers are paid by the mobile operators based on the revenue collected by the mobile operators from the end users using the services. An intermediate proxy is disposed between a mobile operator and the data network to keep track of the data amount transmitted by the content providers and the users and to keep track of the revenue sharing agreements established between that mobile operator and the content providers. Additionally, an intermediate proxy is linked to each content provider to keep track of the data amount transmitted to the end users via a mobile operator and to keep track of the revenue sharing agreement with that mobile operator.

  • Publication number: 20030145044
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for sharing information about an end user of a mobile terminal with an applications node in a wireless network, in which a virtual terminal arranged between the mobile terminal to the applications node provides end user information about the end user of the mobile terminal to the applications node from a centralized point. The mobile terminal stores end user information and has a mobile terminal user interface for managing the provision of the end user information. The mobile terminal also stores end user rules or preferences controlling how different types of the end user information can be used and to whom the end user information can be given in the wireless network. The end user of the mobile terminal also requires manual confirmation so that the end user will be prompted each time certain end user information is requested by the applications node. The mobile terminal user interface manages these end user rules and preferences.

  • Patent number: 6587685
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method for downloading operation parameters to a mobile station by way of a radio link. The operating parameters include, for instance, preferred roaming list, number assignment module, enhanced variable rate coder, IP address, access point setup parameters, and the like, to be used during operation of the mobile station. Values of the operational parameter are input by way of the user interface to a server coupled to the network infrastructure of the communication system in which the mobile station is operable. Values of the operational parameters are encoded and routed to the mobile station by way of the network infrastructure of the communication system and a radio link formed with the mobile station. Once detected at the mobile station, the values are stored at a storage element, and later retrieved during subsequent operation of the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 6351647
Abstract: A mobile communication system arranged to broadcast information containing the specific geographic location of a base station. The information is broadcast on a broadcast channel of the base station to an associated mobile station. A mobile station user desiring to activate an application may activate the application by transmitting a service request from the mobile station to a service request center. Prior to transmission of the service request, the information containing the specific geographic location of the base station is attached to the service request permitting the application to be carried out based upon the specific geographic location.

  • Patent number: 6321257
Abstract: Internet service in a digital mobile communication network by means of short message service. The short message service center is connected to the Internet network and uses the HTML, HTTP, and TCP/IP Internet network protocols. Short messages are transferred between the service center and mobile stations. The user submits to the service center a short message containing an identifier of a WWW servicer via the Internet network, receives the WWW page and stores it. The relevant part, which maybe identified by a predetermined criterion, common to all subscribers, or based on a criterion received from the mobile station, such as a keyword, is separated from the WWW page and sent to the mobile station in a short message. The mobile station processes the received message and displays it to the user.

  • Patent number: 6292669
Abstract: A method and an equipment implementing the method in a mobile communication system in which short messages may be sent amid actual signalling, whereby one of more short message service centers providing short message services are linked to the mobile communication system. An identifier supplied by the subscriber and associated with the desired service is included in a mobile originated short message. On the basis of this identifier a database search is performed in a database connected with the mobile communication system, the database comprising identifiers associated with short message services available to subscribers and related routing information. The message is sent to the routing address obtained on the basis of the database search. A short message submitted by a subscriber may thus be routed to the desired short message service center without the subscriber having to directly attend to the routing.
