  • Publication number: 20220232866
Abstract: A method of processing a fava bean composition is disclosed, the method comprising the steps of: i. providing a fava bean composition comprising fava beans, and ii. subjecting the fava bean composition to a betaglucosidase and at least one lactobacillus plantarum bacteria under dosage, time and temperature conditions selected so as to be sufficient to reduce the content of at least one of the compounds vicine and convicine, and preferably also at least one of the compounds divicine and isouramil, by at least 90 wt % as compared to the content of said compounds in the fava bean composition provided in step i. A fava bean composition obtained by the method as well as methods of producing food compositions using the fava bean composition and food compositions thus produced are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6529645
Abstract: In a method for recording a selected sequence of characters with the aid of a pen, the latter is passed over the sequence of characters and a plurality of images, whose contents partially overlap, are recorded simultaneously with the aid of a light-sensitive sensor (8) with a two-dimensional sensor surface. The recorded images are put together, horizontally as well as vertically, into an image. Subsequently, the characters in the composite image are identified and stored in the pen with the aid of a predetermined character code formal. The putting-together, the character identification, and the storing are carried out with the aid of a signal processing unit (20-24). By the method and the pen compensation is obtained for different speeds of movement and different angles of rotation of the pen.

  • Publication number: 20020158016
Abstract: A modular separation system wherein a separation unit is separate from a mounting device that accommodates the separation unit in a separation apparatus. The mounting device is an integral part of the separation apparatus. A method for fluid-fluid extraction of an analyte from a sample fluid to a receiving fluid in a separation apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6014210
Abstract: A device for optical analysis of a specimen, especially a blood sample, is in the form of a dish, a translucent plate-shaped portion, which has a specimen-receiving surface, essentially constituting the bottom of the dish, and a frame, which engages the plate-shaped portion, forming its wall. To catch surplus liquid from the specimen-receiving surface, especially when receiving, smearing, spinning or coloring the specimen, an absorbing material is arranged in a loop along the circumference of the plate-shaped portion. The design of the device permits safe and easy handling of specimens that are injurious to health.

  • Patent number: 5956413
Abstract: In automatic evaluation of cereal kernels or like granular products handled in bulk, the kernels are conveyed on a vibrating conveyor belt (15). Owing to the vibrations, the kernels are spread and settled in grooves (14) in the belt so as to be oriented in essentially the same direction. A video camera (40) produces digital images of all the kernels on the belt. The kernels are identified in the images, and for each kernel input signals are produced and then sent to a neural network based on picture element values for the picture elements representing each kernel. A neural network then determines which of a plurality of predetermined classes that each kernel belongs.

  • Patent number: 5426989
Abstract: For carrying out a method to displace an object from a resting position to to a working position or vice verse, a device (1) is arranged comprising a screw (3) with two threads (7, 9) with different pitches and a body (2, 4) with internal threads matching the threads of screw (3). The body is shaped in two parts (2) and (4), which are arranged to be able to be displaced relative to one another in the axial direction of the screw (3), whereby a changing from one thread to another thread can be done by changing the distance between said parts (2, 4) of the body. The screw (3) is arranged to a first object and the body (2, 4) to a second object.

  • Patent number: 5228890
Abstract: The invention relates to an air cleaner in the form of a cyclone separator comprising a cyclone chamber (2), a gas-feeding nozzle (11) which is directed tangentially to the wall (12) of the cyclone chamber, and a gas outlet (7). The invention is characterized in that the cyclone separator comprises a liquid trap (9, 13) arranged in the wall (12) of the cyclone chamber. Further the nozzle and the liquid trap extend along substantially the entire height of the cyclone chamber. The liquid trap comprises axial grooves (13) and a chamber (9) having an inlet gap (15) which connects the chamber (9) with the cyclone chamber (2) for diverting liquid droplets.
