Abstract: A femoral component for knee prostheses includes a body of the femoral component that defines a supporting structure of the femoral component with mediolateral reinforcements and longitudinal reinforcements. A highly porous structure is arranged inside the body of the femoral component, and a porous structure is arranged as an interface between the femoral component and a bone. The femoral component is provided by EBM beam or laser beam powder technology.

Abstract: A method for improving the strength characteristics of orthopedic prostheses, such as femur necks, femoral stems, cotyloid elements, systems of the spinal column, including the step of: starting from a prosthesis made of metal, subjecting the prosthesis to a peening treatment to improve the surface hardness of the prosthesis and eliminate micro-scoring caused by the machining of machine tools, the method further including a subsequent step of performing a surface finishing treatment by vibration finishing.

Abstract: A total hip prosthesis structure comprises an acetabolar or socket component (1) and a femoral or pin component (2), these components being made of a metal or metal alloy and being intimately connected to parts of ceramic material at least part of the surface of which (other than that in contact with the metal part) is granular or porous so as to encourage osteogenesis after implantation. The metal part (3) of the acetabular component (1) is shaped in such a way as to simplify and facilitate its anchorage in the corresponding cavity of the ilium by having a sharp screw thread (4) thereon.
