  • Patent number: 5480575
Abstract: A method of protecting sensitive or reactive adjuncts, preferably of the type incorporated in detergent compositions, by dissolving said adjunct in a biopolymer, thereby forming a stable particulate adjunct product comprising a molecular solid solution of adjunct in a biopolymer. Preferred adjuncts to be protected include bleach catalysts, bleach catalyst precursors, bleach precursors, enzymes, fluorescers, germicides, perfumes, anti-dye transfer and anti-dye damage agents and effervescent agents. The protected adjunct is especially useful for incorporation in non-aqueous liquid detergent compositions.

  • Patent number: 5393804
Abstract: There is provided a biodegradable composition as obtained from a melt comprising converted starch, a plasticizer and at least one member selected from alkenol homopolymers and/or alkenol copolymers which are combined under conditions sufficient to ensure uniform melt formation, in which the at least one member is present in the composition at a concentration of from 10 to 200 parts per 100 parts of dry converted starch. The invention further relates to methods of making the composition, and to articles made from said composition.

  • Patent number: 5350593
Abstract: Dietary fiber are derived from the tapioca pulp fiber that is a by-product of tapioca starch milling operations. The tapioca fiber may be refined through an enzymatic destarching step to provide a fiber comprising at least 70% total dietary fiber, of which at least 12% is soluble dietary fiber. The fiber may be further refined by bleaching. Acceptable foods may be prepared comprising unrefined or refined tapioca fiber.
