  • Patent number: 7754823
Abstract: The present invention is directed to carboxylic acid and ester moieties that are attached to a carbon chain that is between 2 and 24 carbons in length wherein, the chain contains at least one dioxanone ring system, said dioxanone being formed from two adjacent carbons in the chain and/or at least one carbon in the chain is substituted with a pendant dioxanone ring system. In preferred embodiments, the carbon chain is a fatty acid residue. The carbons of said chain can be optionally substituted, saturated or unsaturated. When two or more said ester moieties are present, the invention is directed to a polyester such as a triglyceride, that contains multiple carbon chains wherein each chain is independently derivatized such that the triglyceride contains at least one dioxanone ring system, said dioxanone being formed from two adjacent carbons in at least one of said chains. The present invention is also directed to a method of preparing a dioxanone containing composition or fatty acid derivative.

  • Publication number: 20080103340
Abstract: A biobased replacement for propylene glycol and ethylene glycol derived from petrochemical sources is presented. The product mixture from the hydrogenolysis of certain polyols from biobased renewable resources may replace propylene glycol and ethylene glycol products from petrochemical sources. Applications and methods of the biobased hydrogenolysis product mixture are disclosed. The compositions and methods provide a feedstock for industrial use which has a 13C/12C isotope ratio characteristic of bioderived material.

  • Patent number: 5341483
Abstract: An associative memory having an associativity of 2.sup.q, where (q) is an integer greater than or equal to one, is provided for storing information relating to data. The memory includes (n) tables, each having a plurality of entries for storing signals associated with data descriptors having a common set portion and common other portions. The entries of table (k), where (k) represents successive integers between (1) and (n-1), store pointers to respective entries of table (k+1). The entries of table (1) are arranged for access as a function of the common set portion and the common portion (1) with which they are respectively associated. The entries of the other tables are arranged for access as a function of (i) a value of the common set portion, (ii) a value of a pointer-respresentative signal of the respective table (m-1) entry means, and (iii) the value of the common portion(m) with which such table(m) entry means is respectively associated.

  • Patent number: 5282201
Abstract: A digital data communications apparatus includes first and second processing groups, each made up of a plurality of processing cells interconnected by an associated bus. An element (RRC) transfers information packets generated by the processing cells between the first and second processing groups. The RRC includes an input for receiving packets from the bus of the first processing group, as well as first and second outputs for outputting packets to the buses of the first and second groups, respectively. A control element routes packets received at the input to a selected one of the outputs based upon a prior history of routings of the datum referenced in that information packet (or requests for that data) between said first and second processing groups.

  • Patent number: 5226039
Abstract: A switch is provided for selectively routing digital information packets received from at least first and second external sources to at least first and second external destinations. At least one of the first sources generates an information packet including a datum, or a request therefore, and a corresponding descriptor. First and second routing interconnects have inputs for receiving packets from respective sources and outputs for transmitting packets to respective destinations. The interconnects are also coupled for transferring packets between one another. Directories within the interconnects store descriptors corresponding to data associated with the first destination, as well as requests routed from the other interconnect. A controller routes packets based on the correspondence, or lack thereof, between the descriptor in that packet and an entry signal allocated to corresponding directory.

  • Patent number: 4763249
Abstract: A bus device is provided for use in a data processing system which includes a plurality of bus devices interconnected by a synchronous bus. The bus includes multiplexed data/address/arbitration lines which carry data, address, and arbitration information during respective data, command/address, and arbitration cycles. The bus also includes a BUSY line and a NO ARB line for controlling access to the data/address/arbitration lines. Where constructed as a memory device, the bus device includes memory circuits having a plurality of storage locations, and an interconnecting circuit which monitors the BUSY and NO ARB lines to identify various types of cycles on the bus, and which controls transmission of signals from the memory device over the bus in accordance with information derived by the monitoring means from the BUSY and NO ARB lines.

  • Patent number: 4661905
Abstract: Control of a communications path interconnecting separate devices in a digital computer system is provided by only two signals generated and received locally within each device on the path and asserted on a systems-wide basis on two separate lines of the path. The generation and utilization of the control signals is independent of the physical location of the devices on the path, and position-dependent delays in transmission of the signals from one device to another are avoided.

  • Patent number: 4488217
Abstract: A data processing system including a plurality of data units and a common bus. The data unit includes apparatus for issuing instructions including a LOCK instruction and an UNLOCK instruction. Each data unit includes apparatus responsive to the instructions such that, if the first data unit issues a LOCK instruction, the data unit other than the first data unit, are prevented from transferring information over the common bus with a LOCK instruction until an UNLOCK instruction is issued by any data unit.

  • Patent number: 4381542
Abstract: A data processing system in which a unit needing to be serviced by a processor first requests an interrupt and, after the interrupt is granted by the processor, requests access to a system bus to transfer interrupt information as it normally would transfer other information. The interrupting unit must wait for other units having higher priority to transfer information, usually memory information over the bus, before it can access the bus to transfer its interrupting information. This permits transfers of information having higher priority to occur before the transfer of the interrupt information is transferred.
