  • Publication number: 20100019026
Abstract: A system for authenticating articles comprising: an authentication manager for managing authentication information associated with the articles; a plurality of secure taggant reader instruments for reading machine readable taggants associated with the articles, the taggants including the authentication or related information, and an instrument configuration manager for secure on-line configuration of the instruments. Each taggant reader instrument is operable to securely process and send authentication information derived from a taggant to the authentication manager. The authentication manager uses the received authentication information to identify suspicious events. When suspicious events are detected, the instrument configuration manager is able to reconfigure at least some of the taggant reader instruments. Reconfiguration may also happen in the event of a product recall and/or taggant security compromise.

  • Publication number: 20030051359
Abstract: A framing layout square device for use by carpenters involved in locating spaced structural members for the framework of a building structure. The device has an elongate substantially straight positioning and measuring member having at least one straight edge for positioning contact with a structural member of a building framework. A plurality of transverse layout members project from one side said elongate positioning and measuring member beyond the straight edge and are located in spaced relation with one another. Each of the transverse layout members have at least one straight layout edge oriented in 90° relation with the straight edge of the positioning and measuring member, with the straight layout edges of the transverse layout members being parallel for defining equally spaced marking edges for marking the spaced locations of the structural members of a building framework. The transverse layout members may be fixed to the positioning and measuring member or may be movable to a storage position.

  • Patent number: 6193090
Abstract: Disclosed is a container having top, bottom, and side walls that comprises first and second substantially identical halves, each of which has a major surface that has a polygonal shape defined by at least six sides and at least one substantially vertical side wall, substantially orthogonal to the major surface, that forms a portion of the side walls of the container when the halves are assembled, an at least double wall construction, the two substantially identical halves matingly engage when the halves are assembled to form the container, and means integral to each half for securing the two halves together. In another aspect, the container of the invention comprises a major surface having a curved periphery and is otherwise as summarized above.

  • Patent number: 6053346
Abstract: A storage container for storing and shipping items is foldable between a flat unformed condition and a second folded formed condition. The container includes a base section, and first and second end sections hinged to respective first and second ends of the base section. First and second cover sections are hinged to respective second ends of the end sections. The container includes a structure to secure differently sized and shaped articles in the same location of the inner surface of the base section. The securing structure includes slots, retention columns, ridges, troughs having various walls forming a trough for securing these articles using a friction fit. The container also includes a device for indicating whether the container has been opened.

  • Patent number: 5898772
Abstract: Allowing an agent to customize their CTI terminal with respect to a variety of terminal attributes such as those associated with previous phone activity, configuration information such as color, and graphical statistical representation of ACD center information. The telecommunication agent is able to store information defining this customization and to retrieve it at another CTI terminal at a later point in time. The storage of the customization information is performed as a file on a file server common to all CTI terminals. The result is that no software must be custom written for the file server in order to allow the saving of customized information. In addition, the programs controlling the CTI terminals are independent of the communication protocol that is utilized between the CTI terminals and the file server. A second embodiment of the invention allows the administrator of a call center to specify that each group of agents will utilize the same customization information.

  • Patent number: 5559980
Abstract: A system and means for identifying references by a process or a subprogram of a process to deallocated memory in a dynamic memory allocation system. The system and method are effective in identifying such references even before they have manifested themselves, and also in identifying the perpetrators of such references. The system and method make use of that portion of the address space of the process which is not otherwise used. A dynamic memory allocation function responds to a requestor's request for memory allocation by mapping memory which the function is allocating to the requestor into otherwise-unused virtual address space, recording this mapping in the system's memory map, and returning the virtual address to the requestor for use in referencing the allocated memory. Hence, any attempted access by the requestor to the allocated memory uses the virtual address, and the virtual address must be translated through the process memory map before the access can be established.
