Abstract: There is presented an apparatus for identifying a sample. Such an apparatus may be used to detect unwanted items as part of a security screening system. The apparatus includes a platform for receiving the sample, at least one electromagnetic radiation emitter, a plurality of detectors and a calculator. The electromagnetic radiation emitter is adapted to provide a plurality of conical shells of radiation. Each conical shell has a characteristic propagation axis associated with it. The detectors are arranged to detect radiation diffracted by the sample upon incidence of one or more conical shells of radiation. Each detector is located on the characteristic propagation axis associated with a corresponding conical shell. The calculator is adapted to calculate a parameter of the sample based on the detected diffracted radiation. The parameter includes a lattice spacing of the sample.

  • Patent number: 11010788
Abstract: Within the field of advertising, multi-touch attribution (MTA) is the process of assigning credit at a unique identifier level to marketing activities for their contribution towards driving a desired marketing result. This invention discloses a data-driven attribution solution and optimization process for improving marketing return on investment by enabling greater speed and agility in responding to continually changing media performance. Specifically, this invention details a survival analysis based approach to attribution using parametric accelerated failure time (AFT) modeling which accommodates both the right-censored discrete time events and is well suited for media data.

  • Publication number: 20200270588
Abstract: Compositions and methods for conferring herbicide resistance or tolerance upon plants towards certain classes of herbicide are provided. In particular these are amine, alcohol and aminal herbicides. The compositions include nucleotide and amino acid sequences for wild-type and mutant glucosyl transferase polypeptides. The polypeptides of the invention are mutant or wild type glucosyl transferases that are capable of catalyzing the transfer of glucose to certain herbicidal structures and that, thereby, confer resistance or tolerance in plants to amine, alcohol and aminal PSII herbicides. Particularly, polypeptides of the invention include mutant or wild-type bx-type UDP glucosyl transferases.

  • Patent number: 10520101
Abstract: A contoured check valve disc features a pivot portion and a check valve portion. The check valve portion is attached to the pivot portion, and has two sides, a first side to respond to the fluid flow in a first direction and move the check valve portion away from a fluid opening to the one or more open positions depending on the fluid flow to allow the fluid to flow through the fluid opening, and a second and opposing side to respond to fluid flow in an opposite direction through the fluid opening and move the check valve portion towards the fluid opening to the closed position to seal the fluid opening and stop fluid flow.

  • Patent number: 10443880
Abstract: The present invention allows for a combination valve in a hydronic HVAC system that functions as an isolation valve; a check valve; and as a device for measuring fluid parameters, such as flow rate, pressure, and/or temperature, and also allows for the isolation valve to be configured in the field to be mounted either in a straight 180° or an angled 90° orientation, as well as at an intermediate angle. The new combination of isolation valve, check valve, with embedded sensors for flow rate, pressure, and/or temperature measurement provides a more compact product envelope that achieves space savings, e.g., by eliminating the need for separate components in an HVAC system, such as separate isolation valves, check valves, flow meters, pressure gages, and/or thermometers.

  • Publication number: 20190152170
Abstract: A tool and its method of use, where a plurality of grooves are formed into the tool surface of the tool. The grooves have different cross-section dimensions, different lengths, different configurations and/or different patterns that function as tool surface resin distribution grooves. The grooves distribute and deliver resin supplied to the tool surface throughout a dry fiber composite layup positioned on the tool surface in resin infusion and resin transfer molding. The grooves are formed in the tool surface extending to discrete areas on the tool surface to direct a flow of liquid resin to the discrete areas and infuse the dry fiber composite layup with the liquid resin at those discrete areas of the tool surface.
