  • Patent number: 8210282
Abstract: Systems and methods for preventing slippage and rotation of components installed along a rotatable tubular shaft and/or in a tubular housing member during drilling operations are disclosed herein. The housing and/or rotatable shaft include a shoulder disposed proximate to one end. An adjustable member is secured proximate to the opposite end. One or more components are installed, covering a first portion of the surface between the adjustable member and shoulder. One or more spacing members are installed to cover substantially all of the remaining surface. The adjustable member is tightened such that the adjustable member and the shoulder apply a compressive axial load to the components and spacing members, causing frictional forces between adjacent objects greater than the torque acting on the housing and/or tubular shaft, causing each component to remain stationary with respect to the surface to which it is secured.

  • Publication number: 20120013105
Abstract: A Folding shopping trolley [1] having an upper section [11] and a base section [2] adapted to move between a collapsed condition into a deployed condition is disclosed. The upper section [11] connects to the base section [2] via elongate support members [20] through an intermediate coupling [10] such that the upper section [11] and base section [2] can move in a synchronized condition between deployed and collapsed conditions. The base section [2] comprises ground engaging wheels [47 and 48] fixed to the lower end of the elongate support member [20]. The lower end of the elongate support members [20] are pivotly connected to the lower end [9] of the actuator [7] via the inner connecting members [6] forming a geometric arrangement with the outer connecting members [5] wherein vertical movement of the actuator [7] moves the trolley from the collapsed condition to the deployed condition. The outer connecting members [5] include a locking mechanism [30] to lock the trolley [1] in the deployed position.

  • Publication number: 20070092177
Abstract: A transmissive active channel element is provided in each signal channel of a monolithic multi-channel TxPIC where each channel also includes a modulated source. The active channel element functions both as a power control element for both monitoring and regulating the output channel signal level of each signal channel and as a modulator for channel wavelength tagging or labeling to provide for wavelength locking the modulated sources. The power regulating function is also employed to control the channel signal power outputs of each channel to be uniform across the channel signal array. All of these functions are carried out by a feedback loop utilizing digital signal processing.

  • Patent number: 6282016
Abstract: A number of variations are provided of a device that provides an amplified single polarization optical signal. Each of these relies on the use of a non-polarization maintaining gain medium through which the signal is directed, and a polarization shifter and reflector that direct the signal back through the same gain medium with a shifted polarization state. An input polarization beamsplitter directs the returning optical signal away to an output, based on its shifted polarization state. The embodiments of the invention include the use of double-clad fiber. Multiple stages may be used to provide specific amplification parameters. In particular, a fiber with a relatively large mode field diameter may be used to enable high pulse power applications. Wavelength selective components are used in certain embodiments of the invention, to allow for wavelength selectivity, as well as a single polarization state, in amplifiers, lasers and amplified spontaneous emission (ASE).

In one embodiment, both amplification stages reside in the same polarization shifting optical path. A polarization maintaining amplifier of this type may be used as part of a master oscillator-power amplifier, in which polarization maintaining fiber is used as part of the source laser.

  • Patent number: 4867469
Abstract: A bumper hitch for quick and firm connection to the bumper of a variety of vehicles is particularly adapted for connection to the front bumper to allow manuevering or parking of a boat trailer, for example with direct observation by the driver. The hitch includes a vertical member formed of slightly spaced yet connected angles. One leg of the top of each angle is bent horizontally to form a hook to engage the top of the bumper with the other leg of the angle being cut away above the bend. A bottom anchor includes an upturned angle to engage the bottom of the bumper, such angle being secured to a threaded stud extending through the slot so that the bottom anchor may be drawn tight. The interior of the hitch includes a height adjustable wooden pad to protect the bumper finishing. The exterior includes a welded horizontal projection supporting a ball trailer hitch.
