  • Patent number: 7747959
Abstract: Flexible and extensible combination user interfaces are described. Combination user interfaces combine task-based and deductive user interfaces in such a manner that complex user interactions can be facilitated using a more meaningful and intuitive user interface than would have been possible using task-based or deductive user interfaces exclusively. The described combination user interfaces are flexible and extensible. They are flexible in that users can work on multiple tasks or switch between tasks without first needing to complete another task. They are extensible in that they can be extended to add, modify, or remove tasks or portions of tasks. User interfaces can be extended by manipulating metadata associated with the user interfaces. The combination user interface can be combined with an Inbox concept to facilitate saving and assigning tasks. The Inbox represents a work queue for a user.

  • Patent number: 7051583
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and device for fitting a tire, of the type with an incorporated air chamber, normally referred to as “tubeless”, on a rim. According to the invention, the said tire having a marking indicating an extreme value of a parameter having a circumferential variation, an area of at least one bead of the tire is held at least during a first inflation phase, the said area being azimuthed according to the said marking. The fitting according to the invention makes it possible to control the variations in radial load on the periphery of the fitted assembly. The invention also proposes a method of analyzing such a tire.

  • Patent number: 6889542
Abstract: Processes and machines for the unseating test for a mounted assembly, wherein, on the machine, the test (or “load”) forces are transmitted only in a normal direction, that is to say by that part of the tire intended to be in contact with the ground, that is to say under normal conditions the “crown” of the tire (substantially the tread) and, under extreme test conditions, the crown, the “shoulder” and ultimately the “sidewall” of the tire. Operation may be in static mode (wheel on a test plate) or in dynamic mode (wheel rolling with drift on a test drum or other test surface).

  • Patent number: 6569949
Abstract: Inherently tacky, pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions useful in marking film applications are provided. The compositions comprise polymer particles prepared by emulsion polymerization of at least one monomer mixture. The monomer mixture comprises at least one alkyl acrylate, the alkyl group of which has from about 4 to 12 carbon atoms, preferably in an amount of from about 73% to 90% by weight, at least one unsaturated carboxylic acid containing from about 3 to 5 carbon atoms, preferably in an amount of from about 2% to 12% by weight, and at least one hard monomer, preferably present in an amount of from about 5% to 15% by weight. The particles have a mean diameter of about 300 nm or less, as determined by laser light scattering. Preferably the hard monomer comprises a styrenic monomer, more preferably both a styrenic monomer and an alkyl methacrylate. In some embodiments, the compositions are prepared by sequential polymerization of the first and second monomer charges.

  • Patent number: 6504844
Abstract: In an Internet communication between a terminal 10 and an Internet Service Provider (ISP) 8 of a network 6, a plurality of ATM data messages 35 from the terminal 10 to the ISP 8 are assembled into a single packet 37 at the edge of the network 6 while maintaining the ATM Header 38. Thus the amount of processing to transfer data across the network 6 is reduced compared to an Internet communication in which each ATM message is processed at each node in a network. At the ISP 8, the packets can be de-multiplexed and the original ATM messages reconstructed.

  • Publication number: 20020024956
Abstract: This invention provides an efficient means of enabling bi-directional communication in a multicast IP network using ATM transport. Packet forwarding rules at the end-user modem and at the multicast router separate unidirectional multicast and bi-directional control flows. This enables the user to control the process of multicast services such as video-on-demand, while ensuring that the bi-directional flows are carried over the network in an efficient manner.

  • Patent number: 6189042
Abstract: A method to reduce the amount of Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), traffic in a LAN environment connected to the Internet via multiport gateway, 63. The gateway, 63, stores a list of terminals connected to its local LAN Paths 61, 62, and determines if the destination of the ARP request is one of the terminals, 611 . . . 622, connected to the local LAN paths. If the destination terminal is not connected to the local LAN paths, the gateway does not rebroadcast the ARP request to the local LAN paths.

  • Patent number: 6136903
Abstract: Repulpable PSA compositions and constructions that exhibit high adhesive performance on a wide range of substrates are provided. In one embodiment, a PSA composition comprises a blend of two emulsion acrylic copolymers. The first type is a repulpable, emulsion acrylic copolymer that passes TAPPI UM 213. Preferably, the copolymer is prepared by sequential polymerization. The second type of copolymer is a non-repulpable, gpp or removable, repositionable, emulsion acrylic copolymer, also preferably prepared by sequential polymerization. The PSA compositions are inherently tacky and can be used in labels and tapes. In addition, they can be added to other PSAs as external tackifiers.
