  • Patent number: 7756521
Abstract: A method for allocating subcarrier frequencies to a user terminal in a wireless system using multi-carrier modulation such as OFDM in which a network is adapted to communicate with a plurality of user terminals for data transmission, signaling control and link adaptation via an air interface downlink channel and feedback channel, and where a number of terminals estimate their own specific channel transfer function, wherein upon terminal channel transfer function estimation over a certain period of time, a set of terminals report to the network, over their feedback channel, information about their measured channel transfer function and interference noise estimate and the network, according to this information, allocates the subcarrier frequencies of at least one first frequency subset to the set of terminals which sent said information following a frequency-selective allocation scheme and allocates the subcarrier frequencies of at least one second frequency subset to the rest of the terminals according to a fr

  • Patent number: 7751489
Abstract: An aspect of the invention relates to a digital generator for multi-carrier frequency division multiplexing (FDM) signals. The digital generator comprises an electronic circuit being operated under the control of a computer program. The digital generator is configured to generate FDM signals being comprised of FDM symbols, wherein at least one FDM symbol has pilot symbols which are non-equidistantly spaced in frequency. Another aspect of the invention relates to a digital receiver for multi-carrier FDM signals. The digital receiver comprises an electronic circuit being operated under the control of a computer program, and further comprises a demodulator for demodulating digital multi-carrier FDM signals, said signals being comprised of FDM symbols having pilot symbols, the pilot symbols of at least one FDM symbol being non-equidistantly spaced in frequency.

  • Patent number: 7751306
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to a method of generating digital multi-carrier frequency division multiplexing (FDM) signals, the signals comprising FDM symbols having pilot symbols, wherein at least one FDM symbol has pilot symbols which are non-equidistantly spaced in frequency. Other embodiments of the invention relate to a method of processing multi-carrier frequency division multiplexing (FDM) signals, the method comprising the following steps: a) demodulating digital multi-carrier FDM signals, said signals being comprised of FDM symbols having pilot symbols, the pilot symbols of at least one FDM symbol being non-equidistantly spaced in frequency, b) replacing, on a sub-carrier basis, at least one data symbol with a pilot symbol, whereby the replacement yields a spacing of pilot symbols which is equidistant in frequency for all FDM symbols.

  • Patent number: 7607054
Abstract: In a method for improving the interface efficiency between two network nodes (2, 3, 4) in a communications network (1) the data blocks to be transmitted over the interface are checked for corruption or likely corruption prior to transmission and only uncorrupted or likely uncorrupted data blocks are incorporated in the data frame and transmitted over the interface.

  • Publication number: 20070217328
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for OFDM transmission with low latency, whereby at least one pilot symbol (P, Pf, Ps) is transmitted within a transmission time interval (TTIn), said at least one pilot symbol (P, Pf, Ps) is used for channel estimation, OFDM symbols are equalized according to said channel estimation, at least one forward error correction codeword is decoded after equalization of said OFDM symbols, and one of said at least one pilot symbol (P, Pf) is transmitted in the last OFDM symbol of the transmission time interval (TTIn), a base station, a user terminal and a network therefor.

  • Patent number: 6760320
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of channel-adaptive power control. According to the invention, the method makes it possible to control the transmission power in a channel-adapting way, employing an arbitrary large set of different TPC algorithms (TPCAs) for use. Each TPCA should be well adapted to a special kind of channel characteristics. The set of TPCAs is all the better performing when it covers the largest scale possible of channel characteristics. At any time, the transmission power is controlled by that algorithm chosen among the set of algorithms that appears to be optimal for the actual channel characteristics.
