  • Publication number: 20050058549
Abstract: An internal combustion engine (14) has an associated controller (18) controlling operation of the engine. A fuel pump (10) delivers fuel to the engine at more than one pressure (300 kPa, 800 kPa). The fuel pump includes a fuel inlet (34) and a fuel outlet (68). It also includes a motor (38) and pump assembly (36) for drawing fuel through the inlet into the fuel pump and delivering fuel to the outlet at a pressure higher than the pressure at the inlet. An outlet assembly (40) of the pump includes an outlet pressure sensor (76) and a processor (79) which is responsive to an input from the controller to vary the outlet fuel pressure by controlling the speed of the motor.

  • Publication number: 20050023374
Abstract: An electrostatic spray gun apparatus includes a spray gun housing and a nozzle attached to a spray end of the housing, and a powder path that extends in a substantially straight line along an axis of the housing from the powder inlet to the powder outlet. The powder path is in the form of an enclosed smooth powder passage that is substantially continuous and uninterrupted from the powder inlet to the powder outlet to eliminate substantially all recesses or gaps that could capture or trap powder. The powder passage is formed by a plurality of tubular segments that are aligned along the housing axis and abut end to end. that when assembled in the housing axially compress the segments together to substantially eliminate dead spots or recesses to form the continuous smooth powder path. A gun purge function is provided that allows a purge line to be installed on the gun assembly. A cartridge valve and conductor assembly is provided between the gun electrode in the nozzle and the output of the voltage multiplier.

  • Patent number: 6837219
Abstract: A ported pressure relief valve (10) used in an automotive fuel system (F) includes an unrestricted constant bleed orifice (32) for routing pressurized fuel from a fuel pump (P) back to a fuel source (T, M) when an engine (E) is running. A check valve (30) prevents flow from a fuel system back to the fuel source when the engine is off, so to retain sufficient pressure in the delivery system that the engine will readily start when cranked. A pressure relief valve (50) drains fuel from the delivery system back to the source of fuel in response to a pressure build up in the fuel delivery system above a predetermined pressure level so to prevent an overpressure condition which would otherwise damage the fuel delivery system.

  • Patent number: 6831116
Abstract: Novel modifying agents contain a sharply-melting crystalline polymer ingredient, preferably a side chain crystalline (SCC) ingredient, and an active chemical ingredient. Such modifying agents, especially when in the form of particles, can be placed in contact with a matrix, will not modify the matrix below the crystalline melting point Tp, but will rapidly modify the matrix above Tp. The active chemical ingredient can react with the matrix, catalyze a reaction of the matrix, or inhibit a reaction of the matrix. Particularly useful compositions are polymer precursors which are storage-stable at low temperatures but which are rapidly converted to crosslinked resins when heated to temperatures above Tp, optionally in the presence of light.

  • Publication number: 20040122891
Abstract: In an embodiment, the present invention is directed to notifying a user of web content elements maintained by an information site. The notification may occur by processing web content queries from a user. First web content elements communicated in response to the queries and selected by the user may be associated with the user via a user profile. The first web content elements may be compared against second web content elements to identify related web content elements. The user may then be notified of the related web content elements.

  • Publication number: 20040115608
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and method for delivering on-demand educational materials via distributed networks, such as the internet, wireless networks, etc. An end-user may login to the system, request training on a variety of subjects, receive on-demand multimedia training material, provide payment, be tested to ensure that they have understood the training material, and have a notification sent to an employer, government agency, or other entity that has mandated or requested that the end-user has received specified training. The system is particularly useful for ensuring compliance with mandatory training schemes, such as continuing legal education, where private entities may make training available to end-users, while a government entity must track the amount and nature of training received by large groups of individuals.

  • Patent number: 6740826
Abstract: The invention relates to a safety contact strip (1) that is regularly used as a closing edge safely device in squeeze and shear areas, for example, gates, machines or the like, having at least two conductive switch layers (2,3) in a non-conductive closed switching chamber (4) located inside a profile (6) that forms an outer jacket (5). In order to enhance quality while preserving a relatively simple structure of said strip, the profile (6), the switching chamber (4) and the switch layers (2,3) are configured as a single piece having at least one built-in conductor (7,8). In order to ensure safe switching even in case of low switch loads and unexpected direction, the switching chamber (4) is kept free in a cross section by spoke-shaped webs (9,10,11). The invention also provides for a cap for closing the front side of the safety contact strip.

  • Patent number: 6725360
Abstract: An integrated circuit which has two separate paths for two different data widths. The first processing path processes data up to n bits in a n multiplier. A second path operates in parallel with the first path, and includes smaller units which process data up to n 2 bits. The two paths can operate in parallel, but since the two paths have different data widths, they can more effectively operate with the different data sizes.

  • Publication number: 20020102166
Abstract: A pump end cap preferably includes a plastic molding that is shaped to include an external electrical socket and is internally shaped to include electric motor brush placement holders. Electric motor brushes are mounted on the holders. The electric motor portion of the electronic pump assembly is completed when the end cap is mated to an appropriate housing. By integrating a portion of the electric motor into the pump end cap, the need for wires extending from an electric motor terminal to the outside of the pump housing is eliminated. The present invention preferably finds application in fuel pump and filter assemblies used in conjunction with diesel type internal combustion engines.
