Patent number: 9229661Abstract: Quotas are tracked for user usage of hard disk drive space and offline backup storage space. The quota is enforced against the total space utilized by a user, not just high tier hard drive space usage. When data is migrated from hard disk drive space to backup storage space, data metadata is updated to reflect data kept offline for the user. As such, when users request to store new data, the data usage of hard disk space and backup storage space is determined from the metadata that reflects both data types, and the total storage spaced for the user is used to grant or reject the user's request to store more data in the system.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2013Date of Patent: January 5, 2016Assignee: SILICON GRAPHICS INTERNATIONAL CORP.Inventors: Kevan Flint Rehm, Benjamin Paul Myers

Publication number: 20150134265Abstract: A distributed network system and method includes a processing unit configured to manage safety data for a plurality of medical devices, a database software component in communication with the processing unit, and a monitoring software component in communication with the processing unit. The monitoring software component is configured to monitor a number of messages between a number of medical devices and the processing unit, to process performance parameters to generate an overall performance index, and to generate an output that is viewable by a user. The output includes relative contributions of each of the performance parameters to the overall performance index, where the overall performance index is generated using a weighting factor associated with each of the performance parameters. The performance parameters include the number of messages waiting to be processed, which has the largest weighting factor, and a disk queue length, which has the smallest weighting factor.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 11, 2014Publication date: May 14, 2015Inventors: Christopher Egan Kohlbrecher, Jonathan Leigh Walton, Daniel Chien-Yu Hsu, Michael Paul Myers

Patent number: 6429616Abstract: An electric machine drive system uses an estimation of the DC bus voltage to improve machine drive control. The DC bus voltage is estimated by injecting a carrier signal into the machine drive and determining the magnitude of the positive sequence current component induced in the drive by the carrier signal. The measured magnitude of current may be referenced to the anticipated magnitude of the current in order to produce an inverse value of the estimated DC bus voltage that is then used to normalize the commanded voltage signal driving the machine. Alternatively, a look-up table is used to relate the measured magnitude of the current component to a corresponding estimated value of the bus voltage.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2001Date of Patent: August 6, 2002Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Garold Paul Myers, Michael W.
