    Abstract: A pump and tank lid assembly. The pump is of a low-profile, lightweight design to enable it to cooperate with the lid so that a relatively thin-walled tank can support its weight. In addition, the low-profile design allows the pump to remain attached to the top of the tank, even during shipping and stacking of the tanks. Projections formed either in the tank or on a frame that surrounds the tank extend beyond the dimensions of the pump. The projections allow stacking of fluid material containing tanks so that during tank stacking, adequate clearance is formed between the top of the pump in a lower tank and the bottom of an upper tank.

    Abstract: A transfer valve for permitting fluent particulate materials to flow from a closed transport container, having a bottom wall with an outlet aperture, into a closed base container having a top wall with a sealed inlet aperture adapted for sealed engagement with the bottom wall of the transport container; the transfer valve permitting operation without exposure of an operator to contact with the fluent particulate materials, comprises a transfer valve member having provisions for occluding the outlet aperture of the transport container; a further provision for latching and disabling the transfer valve member in a closed position; and another provision on the sealed base container, for enabling the disabled transfer valve member when the base container is in sealed engagement with the transport container. The base container is also equipped for dispensing particulate material from the base container at a controlled rate.

    Abstract: A system for transporting and dispensing fluent materials consists of a shipping container disposed with a supply of fluent material, and having a bottom wall with an outlet aperture, the outlet aperture being occluded by a normally disabled transfer valve; a base container adapted for sealed attachment to the bottom wall of the shipping container, the base container having a top wall equipped with a means for enabling the normally disabled transfer valve, when the base container is properly attached to the shipping container, and a bottom wall which tapers downwardly to an opening with a valve for dispensing particulate material at a controlled rate when the valve is opened. A remotely operable metering valve is also disclosed as a substitute for the valve in the base container opening.

    Abstract: A metering device for controlling the flow of granular material from a container. The metering device includes an electromechanical solenoid connected to a pivoting metering bar. When the solenoid is energized, the metering bar is pivoted away from an outlet aperture, permitting the flow of material from the container. When the solenoid is de-energized, a spring causes the metering bar to pivot into contact with the outlet aperture, closing the outlet aperture and stopping the flow of material from the container.

    Abstract: A volumetric measuring/dispensing device for liquids is provided which has a measuring container having graduation markings thereon for measuring the quantity of liquid in the container. The container has an upper valve housing and a lower valve housing mounted in the top and bottom of the container. A valve stem having a single handle extends through the upper and lower valve housings and is selectively turnable by a turning the single handle to a selected one of three different positions, namely: a filling position, a closed position and an emptying position. When in the filling position, the upper and lower housings in conjunction with the valve stem respectively provide for the entrance of liquid into the interior of the container while at the same time provide for the exit of air out of the container. When in the closed position, the upper and lower housings in conjunction with the valve stem respectively provide for the closure of all entrances into and exits out of the container by both liquid and air.

    Abstract: A fitting for dispensing liquid from a container, including a housing for mounting within an opening of the container, a one-way valve within the housing for allowing liquid to only flow outward from the container, and a first drain hole through the housing wall. One of two selected tubes is inserted into the bottom open end of the housing: either a first tube with a solid cylindrical wall blocking the first drain hole, with a telescoping dip tube attached, or a second tube with a second drain hole through its cylindrical wall for alignment with the first drain hole. When the first tube is selected, liquid may be pumped from the container. When the second tube is selected, the container may be inverted and liquid may empty by gravity. The first and second drain holes allow residual liquid to be drained from within the container. A tamper evident wire seal may attach the housing to the container, preventing removal therefrom. A cap, attached by a strap to the housing, can seal the outer opening of the housing.

    Abstract: A vent system adapted to be installed on a standard container, in place of a shipping and storage plug, for use in venting the container without requiring any modification to the container. The vent system includes a knob which is turnable in one direction to place the vent system in a vent closed condition, as for example for shipping the container, and turnable in the opposite direction to place the vent system in a vent open condition to permit air to be vented into the container during fluid removal. A vent housing is adapted to be screwed into a threaded opening of the container. The knob includes a cap and a ring which are held together by a tamper evident seal. The knob is captured by the vent housing to prevent unwanted removal of the knob and to prevent unwanted access to the container. The tamper evident seal must be removed for access to the vent housing and for removal of the vent system from the container.
