Patent number: 10691748Abstract: Methods and apparatus to process call packets collected in a communications network are disclosed. An example method includes, responsive to a query about a voice call, performing a first search of extracted data using a first set of search terms to identify a first record. The extracted data is extracted from packets captured at network nodes and include control information and voice data. A second search of the same extracted data is performed using a second set of search terms including information contained in the first record. The second search is to identify a second record by determining that first metadata of the first record matches second metadata of the second record. Further, a first packet corresponding to the first record, a second packet corresponding to the second record, and a third packet including voice data corresponding to the voice call are returned in response to the user query.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2017Date of Patent: June 23, 2020Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Cory Cartwright, Paul A. Raccio

Patent number: 9608879Abstract: Methods and apparatus to collect call packets in a communications network are disclosed. An example method includes extracting data from packets captured at nodes in a communication network; storing the extracted data in a database in association with the voice data corresponding to the captured packets; searching, in response to a query including information, the extracted data in the database to identify records matching the information; identifying a second record in the database as belonging to a same unique voice call as the first record in the database based on determining that first metadata of the first record matches second metadata of the second record; and returning a first packet corresponding to the first record, a second packet corresponding to the second record, and a third packet comprising voice data corresponding to the same unique voice call in response to the query.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2014Date of Patent: March 28, 2017Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Cory Cartwright, Paul A. Publication number: 20140192968Abstract: A method includes determining, at a processor of a computing device, whether an incoming transmission to a first destination is authorized at an electronic device of a communication network. The method includes, in response to determining that the incoming transmission is not authorized, determining whether a particular type of content is communicated via the incoming transmission. The incoming transmission is routed to the first destination when the particular type of content is not communicated via the incoming transmission, and the incoming transmission is not routed to the first destination when the particular type of content is communicated via the incoming transmission.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2014Publication date: July 10, 2014Applicants: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Kenneth Robert Stroud, Paul A. Raccio

Patent number: 8712022Abstract: A method includes determining whether an incoming call to a first destination is authorized at a switch of a communication network. The method includes, in response to determining that the incoming call is not authorized, determining whether the incoming call is a facsimile call, routing the incoming call to the first destination when the incoming call is not the facsimile call, and routing the incoming call to the first destination when the incoming call is the facsimile call.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2013Date of Patent: April 29, 2014Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Kenneth Robert Stroud, Paul A. Patent number: 8406393Abstract: A system includes a switch responsive to a control module. The control module that determines whether an incoming telephone call from a telephone number to a telephone line is a facsimile call or a voice call and whether facsimile calls are authorized to be routed to the telephone line. When the incoming telephone call is a voice call, the control module instructs a switch to route the incoming telephone call to the telephone line. When the incoming telephone call is a voice call, the control module instructs the switch to route the incoming telephone call to the telephone line when facsimile calls are authorized, and to deny routing the incoming telephone call to the telephone line when facsimile calls are not authorized.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2009Date of Patent: March 26, 2013Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Kenneth Robert Stroud, Paul A. Patent number: 7653184Abstract: Whether a facsimile transmission tone is within a call is detected before routing the call from a switch of a telephone network to a first telephone line. When the facsimile transmission tone is detected, whether an incoming facsimile transmission transmitted by the call is permitted to be routed to the first telephone line is determined based at least partially on restriction information. Routing of the call from the switch to the first telephone line is denied when the incoming facsimile transmission is not permitted to be routed to the first telephone line.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2005Date of Patent: January 26, 2010Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, LPInventors: Kenneth Robert Stroud, Paul A. Patent number: 7006612Abstract: A presence of a facsimile transmission tone generated by a calling party within a call is sensed for within a public telephone network before the call has been routed to a called party. If the facsimile transmission tone is present in the call, the telephone network denies completion of the call to the telephone line of the called party. If the call is absent the facsimile transmission tone, a telephone network switch is instructed to complete the call to the telephone line of the called party.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2004Date of Patent: February 28, 2006Assignee: SBC Knowledge Ventures, LPInventors: Kenneth Robert Stroud, Paul A.
